Lavene entertained a number of children very charmingly Saturday afternoon at her home In Oakley avenue. The party was piven to celebrate the sixth birthday anniversary of her daughter, Esther, and aha received many very pretty Rifts In' remembrance of the day. A number of picture were taken of the party dur
ing the afternoon. The children played (tmci on the lawn and at four o'clock were served with dainty re freahments. Prizes In the games were won by Lester Goldlng, Grace young and Russell Waif. There were nineteen little people at the party and Just before departing for their homes Mr. Lavene took them for an automobile drtvei around the city. A SOCI1L. An Ice Cream Festival was given by the members of the Womans Auxiliary of St. faul's Episcopal church on the lawn of the church in Rimbach avenue Saturday afternoon and evening. The lawn was decorated with Japanese lan
terns. Ice cream and cake were served at small tables. Pretty garden flowers decorated the tables very attractively. ENTERTAINED AT SCHNEIDER. IC. J. Connelly was host to a small party of friends at his camp near Schneider, Ind., yesterday. The day was spent in fishing and boating on the Kankakee river. A very enjoyable time is reported. In the party which left Hammond were Mr. and Mrs, Frank O'Rourke, Miss Marie McKirna. Miss Gertrude Vanderhoof, Messrs. Martin McGregor, Bally, and N. J. Connelly. HERE FROM WALES FOR A VISIT. Etta Sheffield and Edward Hammond were united in marriage. Only the immediate relatives were present for the ceremony which was solemnized at S o'clock by the Rev. C. J. Sharp, pastor of the First Christian church. The

The table decorations were in pink and whtle, the same colors as wre used in the parlors. A profusion of lovely flowers were used among the decorations. Mr, and Mrs. Hammond left Hammond late Saturday evening for Chicago where they will be at home to their friends. They have an attractive apartment in Greenwood avenue, Woodlawn. Mrs. Hammond ts a daugh. ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Sheffield. She has lived in Hammond for a number of years and is very will known among the young people of the city, MARRIED AT INDIANAPOLIS. Miss Mary Ibach, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph George lbach, formerly of Hammond but now of Indianapolis, and Walter Wood Sohl, son of Mrs. Cynthia Sohl of Hammond were united in marriage today at half after twelve o'clock. (Special to Thb Times.) Crown Point, Ind... June 30. One of the prettiest June weddings to occur In this city during the season took place at the home, of Mrs. Leonora Hart on Saturday at one o'clock, when her daughter, Miss Margarlte Hart, was united in marriage to Vernon Tarry, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Parry of 107 East street. The Hart home, most beautifully decorated with ferns, pink sweet peas and streamer ribbons to match, was the scene of the pretty affair. Preceding the wedding ceremony Miss Jielle Peterson sang De Koven's "O, rromise Me." To the strains of Lohengrin's "Weddlns; March" played by Robens of the Congress orchestra. Chicago, the wedding precession formed. The bride was attended by her mother, the trooin being unattended. The ceremony took place in the reception hail under a large floral wedding bell of white carnations. Rev, H, Billman of the First Presbyterian church reading the eere-
mony. At the close of the ceremony the bell showered concealed rose petals upon the happy pair. The bride was beautifully attired In a gown of Jvory brocaded satin, trim med with rhine stones and rose point lace. Following the ceremony a five course wedding breakfast was served, the table decorations being baskets of pink sweet-peas, ferns and streamer of ribbon. s The couple left on the Pennsylvania for Chicago where they will spend a few days and later leave on an extended lake trip to Mackinae and other points. In the mixed foursome at the Hammond Country club last Saturday afternoon Major and Mrs. Burr of Gary won second gross honors in the nine hole event. W, H. Crawford and Mrs. P. A. Parry had the best gross ecore. They shot a 56, which is exceptional and eclipsed the 58 recorded by Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Sharrer in the last event of .Its kind. Pr. and Mrs, T. W.
Oberlin won the event with a net

Last Saturday evening the members of the Porcas Lodge of Rebeckhs met In the I. O. O. F. hall Jn East State street for their regular weekly meeting. There were thirty or more mem brs In attendance. Anouncement was made of the next meeting to be held Saturday evening, July 6th, when Vhero will be both installation of officers and initiation of a class of candidates. O. O. F. hall in East State street. A meeting of the members of the Germania Lodge of Rebeckahs wll take place Tuesday evening in I. O. O. F, Hall in East State street, A number of the members of Hammond Chapter f Eastern Stars will go to Hegewise'n, 111., this evening to at tend a meeting of Pyramid Chapter. A very delightful session is anticipated.
CROWN POINT BOY MARRIED Rensselaer, Ind., June 30. A very pretty wedding was that of Miss Elizabeth Virginia Spitler and Mr. Horace Malcolm - Clark, which took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Spitler, last week. Mr. Horace Ott of Crown Point rendered Shubert'a Serenade on the violin.. Miss Edna Hauter of Rensselaer played the wedding march from Lohengrin. The "ushers were Misses Helen Warner and Ellen Kreasier. The ribbons were earried by Misses Jeannette Abbott, Bernice Ott and Martha Long and Mesdames Marion S. Learning and Firman Thompson. The bride was preceded by her sister, Mrs. Pelos M. Coen, as matron of honor, carrying a sheaf boquet of pink sweet peas and ribbon. The bride on the arm of her father met the groom and his best man, Mr. Emmet LaRue, under a canopy of smilax and sweet peas. The ring ceremony was very impressively informed by Rev. J. C. Parrett. The bride's gown was a white ehar muese foundation, the yoke and sleeves of cluny lace and the waist and skirt of beautiful embroidered net. Her bouquet was a colonial bouquet of bridal roses. The bride is a, graduate of the Rensselaer high school and attended the Western College for Gi'rls at Oxford, Ohio, and was one of the most beautiful and best liked young ladies. The groom attended the state university and Is one of the successful young business men of Wheatfield,
