300 SLEEP IN 7ROOM HOUSE A house of seven rooms In which 300 men' sleep dally was discovered yesterday by the . South Chicago police. The "roomers' are workers In the eteel mills and sleep in "shifts." Thus the sixty cots in the place can accommodate them all. The "house of many roomers" and few rooms was discovered when the police were sent to investigste a report that a man had died at 9040 Strand street, which is Just across from the steel mills. They found the man, Ivan Zerlick, still alive, but in a serious condition. The police express wonder that he is alive at all, for he was in a room where the cots were piled one on top of the other like so many bunks. So closely were they packed into th rooms that the policemen had to crawl beneath them to get to where the sick man lay. On each cot was a sleeping man. With the arrival of each "shift" from the mills the "sleeping shift" also changes, so that the cots are practically never without occupants. . A report will be made to the health authorities of the insanitary conditions of this "rooming house."

SCBSCRiaB FOR THE TOTES.'

MUST WEAR A LEAF ANYWAY The East Chicago police department ia serving notice on all bathers that hereafter anybody found bathing in the canal or river without bathing suits will be arrested and fined. Yesterday there were a number of complaint to the police that full grown men without clothing of any aort were bathing off the brldgea that span the canal and the Calumet river. As though this fact were not sufficiently offensive some of the' bathers have taken delight in insulting women who happened to pass their way. Last evening reports were received of this improper conduct from both the Forsyth avenue and the Grasselli bridges. Sergeant John Weifenbarh said this morning that this has got to cease or there will be something doing.
