weather, the atendance at the meeting yesterday was not as large as usual. Committee No. 3 of which Mrs. R. B.

Richardson Is chairman submitted Its

report and showed that one hundred

and fifteen dollars had been cleared

during the past month. The proceeds

will be used by the society for the

benefit of the church. There will be no meeting next week but in two weeks

the members will meet In the parlors

of the church for another business ses

sion. There will be roll call and It Is desired that there Is a large attendance

of the membership.

hour. The meeting yesterday will ba the last until fall. MRS. PRESTON ENTERTAINS. Mrs. F. W. Preston was hostess to tho members of the Ladies Aid Society of the Monroe street Methodist chapel yesterday afternon at her home in Conkey avenue. Following a short business session a prettily appointed two course luncheon was served and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in a delightful social way. There was a large attendance of the membership. In two weeks on Thursday afternon, July 10th the members will meet at the home of Mrs. Henry Wright in Monroe street for a very important meeting. The annual election of officers will be a feature of the afternoon.

1911 graduating class of the Whiting high school. She Is very popular in both Whiting and East Chicago where she has a wide acquaintance. Mrs. Haight has been the recipient of many affairs in her honor, and during the course of her engagement and marriage has received numerous gifts. The groom is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Haight of East Chicago, where he is widely known, having been a resident for a number of years. He has a lucrative position in East Chicago, and is well known in lodge cir

cles, where he holds an Important office in the K. of P. After the wedding feast, Mr. and Mrs. Haight left for points in Southern Indiana, to visit with rlativea of the groom. part of the afternoon with their needle

work and a great deal of work for the church was accomplished. During the social hour a dainty luncheon was served. The refreshments were served in two courses. The meeting nevt week

will visit in Detroit, Buffalo, New York

and Portsmouth. At Portmouth they wilt be the guests of Mrs. Seeley's brother, George F. Barron, who is in the navy yards stationed on the Battleship Tennesiiee. Mr. Barron has just

returned from Turkey and Africa.
