Dr. Israel Millstone, secretary of the Gary health board, last night was expelled from the Gary Medical society on the charge of unprofessional conduct. Dr. Millstone has been arrested recently in connection with the deaths of two Gary married women, wno died following the performance of an illegal operation. His cases are pending in the courts. Chief of Police Leo McCormack will today issue orders which if enforced will mean a sane fourth for East Chicago and Indiana Harbor. The edict
will go forth to all the merchants of the Twin Cities handling fireworks that the sale of dangerous cannon fire crackers, blank cartridges and all pistols is forbidden. Purchasers of the same from other places where they are able to procure them are warned that officers will confiscate all fireworks which come under the ban, found In their possession. For several years the East Chicago police department has sought to put down the use of dangerous explosives which result in many deaths annually, to say nothing of painful injuries to children and adults. While they have not been able to entirely do- away with their use they have very materially bettered conditions and this year they intend to exercise stricter vigilance than ever before.

An attempted jail delivery at the Gary police station was frustrated early today by the vigilance of Captain Newman and Turnkey Miskovoch. The police suspect that friends of the gang of Poles now held for Sunday's check swindling operations endeavored ' to assist the prisoners to escape. This morning It was discovered that

ROLLER SKATING ENDS (Special to Thb Times.) Whiting, Ind., June 18. On account of the warm weather the management of the Whiting skating ring has announced that after Thursday evening of this week skating will be discontinued for the balance of the season. The popular hall will then be open to select dancing parties, the first to- be held Saturday evening. The management is making extensive preparations for the opening dance and a large attendance is expected.

OLD CITIZEN DEAD.
Cornelius Van Giesen, a resident of long standing in East Chicago, died yesterday morning at S o'clock following a lingering illness. Death was ascribed to rheumatism and hardening of the arteries. There will be short funeral services
at the late home tomorrow at 2:30 p. m.. after which the remains will be taken by Huber & Badeaux to Indiana Harbor, where they will be sent on the 3:45 train to Rolling Prairie, Ind., for interment. Mr. Van Giesen was born September, 1841, his age at the time of his death being 72 years,, nine months and seven days. He came to East Chicago from Rolling Prairie, Ind., twelve years ago and was sick for over a year with the ailment which resulted in his death. For the past-three weeks the end was expected at almost any time, the patient being obliged to keep to his bed almost the entire time. He is survived
