Sues in Circuit Court. Mrs. Kmma Hauser of West. Pullman appears rs the plaintiff In a suit filed at Crown Point in which two East Chicago men are made the defendants, the woman claiming that her husband lost $2,400 last year in a poolroom. The suit was filed by the law firm of Moran & Dyer of Hammond, which represents the legal firm of Kruse & Peden of Cnlcag-o in the matter. The attorney for the defense entered an appearance in the circuit court at Crown Point last Monday, the case having been filed there.

LAW NIPS OFF JTHE MEDAL Members of the Hammond police department met in their monthly practice shoot on their new shooting grounds south of the river yesterday afternoon, and, although the high score did not equal that of Chief Austgen'a at the last shoot, the scores were as good on an average. Officer Robert Law, who has been hanging up exceptionally good scores in practice, captured the medal with 87 points out of a possible 100. Officer Homrieh came In second place with 80, while Chief Austgen took a big slump and second third honors. WILL PLAY AT WHITING PARK Instead of disbanding for the balance of tha season as was planned the first part of the week, Hammond's baseball team will play at least one more game next Sunday afternoon, when they will do battle with a South Chicago aggregation at the former Whiting baseball park. Saylor Long, who put the Hammond team into the field, severed his connection with the team Monday and hereafter leh team will play for the gate receipts. Lack of support is the cause of the Hammond team losing Its popular manager and owner.
MOTOR BOAT CLUB
TO FIXSCHEDULE freeing a summer of good sport ahead
the Hammond Motor Boat club will arrange its schedule for the season this evening at a regular meeting. The opening date will be held the latter
part of June or early In July on a Sun
day. For this season the club is planning four races and four picnics. The pretty little clubhouse on the river and Calumet avenue has been gone over and redecorated and is more at
tractive than ever now to the members.

Flowers were offered for sale, including roues, sweet peas and pansies, these last having been donated by Mrs. Murphy. The house was beautifully decorated, the living room being in pink with sweet peas as the floral features, while the dining room was In the various shades of yellow, the table centerpiece being of daisies. The hostess had the assistance of Mrs. John Hill Mrs. James Henry, Mrs. Ivar Jones, Mrs. J. r. Lewis, Mrs. Frank Williams, Mrs. A. A Ross. James Lewis has resigned as manager of the East Chicago Transfer and Express Co. and has purchased the automobile garage from that concern. He will continue to operate the auto business at the present stand, the East Chicago garage and sales rooms, in Forsythe avenue. George Clapper has been selected to succeed Mf. Lewis as manager of the transfer company. Mr. Lewis, hawever, still retains his interest in that concern. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Freeman entertained Chicago guests at dinner last night. The Rebekahs will have initiation of candidates tomorrow night and the Ha mm nod team will come to East Chicago to do the work. Five candidates will be initiated. All visiting brothers and sisters are invited to attend. There will be a meeting of the East Chicago Motorcycle club Thursday evening, June 12. Very important business will take place and arrangements are to be made for an endurance run. The club is doing very nicely along the lines of entertainment for its mem
bers, and intend! to continue along these lines

Julius Doppler, who some time ago swallowed a fishbone and was operated on for the removal of the obstruction at the Henrotin Memorial hospital, Chicago, returned from a second operation necessitated by the formation of an abscess in his chest, the abscess being the result of the Irritation caused
by the fishbone. Although having had quite a hard time of it for several weeks," Mr. Doppler is now apparently on the high road to recovery. Fred PWers, formerly of Indiana Harbor, but now township assessor at' Laporte, was in the Harbor yesterday visiting relatives.
