BARBECUE EXPERTS ARE CAPTURED
Uncle Abner and Aunt
Martha" Are Coming to Indiana Society Feed.
Well they're coming. E. Louis Kuhn
of the Indiana Society commitee, whom the society of Chicago shipped out of
town last week on a secret mission returned yesterday with a broad smile and an announcement. He says he has obtained the services of "Uncle Abner"
Jasper, barbecue expert since "befo de
wah." to say nothing of the services
of "Uncle Mose" Trimble and his wife.
Martha, assisting geniuses at barbecues in Nashville, Tenn. Martha's weapon
is a huge gourd from which for the
last forty years she has poured barbe
cue sauce.
Abner, Mose and Martha have agreed
to appear at Cedar Lake, In time for
the Indiana society's annual picnic, on
June 21. They are to superintend the
task of preparing the meal, a part of
which will be a prize steer from Will
J. Davis AVillow Dale stock farm at
Crown Point.
During the afternoon there will be a
circus, with Indiana men both as performers and audience. In the evening
Hammond citizens are to stage a "fete
de surprise."

The dedication of the public libraries In , East Chicago and Indiana Harbor public libraries, which began on Friday and continued until yesterday after
noon, and which in fact will not be entirely concluded until this afternoon, today being "children's day In the ceremonies, passed oft very smoothly
and satisfactorily, there being but one disappointment. This was that they
were not so well attended as would
naturally have been expected.
It is quite likely however, that had
the people Of the Twin Cities, who are
Interested In culture and Its promotion
realized the Importance of some of the
out of town speakers, they would have
been present In larger numbers. How
ever those who did attend enjoyed to
the fullest the rare treat of haring not
only a good program by local speakers and musical talent, but some fine talks by Mary Eileen Ahem, than whom there is no more universally acknowledged authority on library subjects.
throughout the country, and Carl TI Milan who also stands high In his profession.
