Ministers of the Christian churches

In the various cities around here left 1 today for the convention of the Chris- i tlan churches of Indiana, which began ; in Indianapolis Monday, is the only offi- j

cial gathering of the congregations of pt. John's church, and while the serv' this denomination held in the stati-. ; .

Unlike many other religious institutions, the Christian church has no central body which exercises authority over th congregations. But a mass meeting of the membership of the church is held each year, and this is the meeting which will begin Monday, and continue until Thursday evening. No attempt is made to limit the num

ber of delegates which an individual congregation may send, for the conven

ts purely democratic, and as no matters of discipline or policy are passed on by the convention, no attempt is made at providing proportionate representation. The various departments of church activity however, are organized, and these various societies make their annual reports at the state convention.
