-Mayor .Knotts has several progressive leaders, who headed by his bull moose

brother, A. F. Knotts, are urging a

separate bull moose ticket so as to Improve Brother Tom's chances: but the bulk of the party men have served notice on the Knotts men that they'll stand for no double crossing and that they will not be the Instruments to procure Knotts' election. It has developed that every bull moose leader, who favors a separate ticket. Is a Knotts man and if be already hasn't something from the mayor that he has a promise of reward.

Julius Doppler, . a carpenter and brother of Joe Doppler, .the Indiana Harbor contractor, with whom he makes his home. Is at the Henrotln Memorial hospital In Chicago, where he yesterday underwent an operation for the removal of a fish bone from his throat. The boi.e has been lodged in the patient's throat since a week ago Frl-das-, when the Dopplers had fish for supper and has given constant andi most acute annoyance ever since. A number of local physicians were consulted, but they declared that the operation which would be necessary to effect the removal of the obstruction

was so delicate that the services of a. specialist would be required. None of them cared to undertake the responsibility of operating. Thus a week, went by during which Mr. Doppler wan unable to take solid food and was subject to severe pain at times and incessant irri'tion. Chicago was finally visited, Joe Doppier accompanying his brother to the city in quest of a specialist who would undertake the delicate task of relieving Juliud of his superfluous bone. Three experts turned the patient down, all of them declaring themselves afraid of the Job. Mr. Doppler was about discouraged, when he was told to go to the Henrotin Memorial hospital as the last hope of saving his life. Dr. Robinson, who is a specialist In,

this line, last evening performed an operation which, however, failed to give the relief expected, and it may be necessary to operate again, as the whole of the borie apparently was not dislodged.
