ALL BUT THREE VOTE FOR IT The project to connect Hammond with the towns of Munster. Highland, Lansing and Griffith by an extension of the Green line down Hohman street from Conkey avenue, received a further impetus last Saturday night when the Hammond city council by all but thrte
votes passed the franchise to its second reading, and the town board of Highlands this morning practically agreed to the passage of the franchise. Thus, all that is now needed to get through the corporate limits of thren towns which lie between Hammond and Crown Point, which it develops H the objective of the line, is the final passage of the franchise in Hammond and at Griffith. From Griffith the route will be over a private right of way to Crown Point.
The passage of the franchise in Hammond is believed to be assured, as al lof the councilmen favor the opening up of the territory to the southward and most of them favor the franchise In its present form.

CURFEW LAW SAID TO BE
SUCCESS Hammond's curfew ordinance which went into effect two months ago, has so fur proven a success, according to Chief Austgen this morning. It has more than come up to expectations as the police thought that they would have some difficulty in keeping the kids off the street after 9 o'clock. While all the officers have received a number of complaints, no arrests have '
been made, as the warnings only had; to be made once. I

It is pointed out that the ridge is the
logical place along which to build this
line for the reason that the railroads make a cut through the ridge, making
overhead crossing possible.
If it had not been for the total lack
of reasoning ability which prompted certain farmers at, Highlands to oppose
the building of a viaduct over the
tracks just west of that city, when the
great elevation of the land no both sides of the track made it the logical thing to do, there would not have been a. single grade crossing on the ridge road necessary.

at the old White Sox park next Sunday afternoon when they will line up
