A DELIGHTFUL EVENT. Mrs. A. F. Rohrer at her beautiful home in South Hohman street was hostess at a one o'clock luncheon and afternoon card party yesterday. It was the afternoon for the' meeting of the Columbia Club and with the members of the club Mrs. Rohrer entertained a number of Hammond and out of town guests. The guests from a- distance were Miss Anna Guillett of Lincoln, 111.; Miss Alice Williamson of St. Louis, and Mrs. Rohrer's sister. Mrs. AVelllnghoff of Chicago. The luncheon tables were beautifully decorated with butterflies and Mrs. Ward roses. The appointments were all in white and yellow. The covers were laid at one large table in the dining room and several small tables in the living room. After the luncheon which was served In several courses the guests returned to the parlors where the remainder of the afternoon was spent at the card tables. Progressive euchre was played. High score was made by Mrs. W. E. Russell and the second honors were won byMrs. W. F. Bridge. Thursday, May S Mrs. R. H. Knoth. MM. 4 A.V AFTERNOON PARTY. The members of the Oak Leaf Embroidery Club were delightfully entertained by Mrs. Hal Young at her home In Truman avenue yesterday afternoon. With the members of the club Mrs. Young entertained Mrs. W. E. Adams of Cheltenham, 111. A part of the afternoon the members devoted to their needle work after which they wre served with dainty refreshments. The luncheon was served In two courses. The luncheon tables were decorated very prettily with flowers and ferns. The next meeting of the club will occur in two. weeks at the home of Mrs. A. J. Burk in Highland street.

MEET WITH MRS. KEXXEY. A pleasant meeting of the' Acme Social Club took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Barney Kenney In Michigan avenue. Mrs. Kenney entertained with cards and5 a number of games of pedro were played during the afternoon. The prizes in the games were won by Mrs. William Lawson, Mrs. F. J. O'Rourke and Mrs. J. J. Rahen. Following th card games the hostess served dainty refreshments. Eight covers were laid. In two weeks on Thursday afternoon. May 8 the club members will be entertained by Mrs. William Lacoy at her home in Ada street. A DAMCIXti PARTY. One of the most delightful of the season's dances was given by the Entertainers' Club last evening in the University Club rooms In the Citizens' German National Bank Building. A large number of the younger society set In Hammond were entertained. The Grand March which was lead by Miss Rose Ruschli and Leo Engleton assisted by Miss Goay and Donald Gradj opened the program of dances. Sixteen

Instead of the usual thlmhble party Mrs. Deaver entertained the club members at the new AVentworth school building where the Calumet Camp Fire Girls gave their little three act comedy entitled "Miss Fearless and Co." The play is the same as will be given for the public this evening. It was exceedingly well given and a great deal of credit Is due not only th young girls of the high school who composed the cast but also the teachers who have had charge of the rehearsals. After the play dainty refreshments were served. Mrs. Dtaver's guests for the afternoon were Mrs. Walter Lanborne, Mrs. Henry Morr!3, Mrs. Clyde Petrie, Mrs. A. H. Kale, Mrs. Frank Shine, Mrs. H. Cards were the entertainment for the afternoon and a pleasant time was spent playing pedro. After several games had been played the honors were awardd to Mrs. Glasgow, Mrs. Henrietta Huber, Mrs. C. E. Jackson and Mrs. J. r. Ryan. A prettily appointed two course luncheon was served the guests at five o'clock. Mrs. J. P. Ryan was named as the next hostess and she will entertain the members of the club at her home in Claude street on the afternoon of May 8. A THIMBLE PARTY. At her home In Michigan avenue Mrs. S. E. Davis very pelasantly entertained the members of the R. A. E. Club at a thimble party yesterday atfernoon. The members spent the hours until four o'clock with their needle work after which a prettily appointed two course luncheon was served. Only Uie members were present yesterday. Arrangements were made to have the next meeting in two weeks on Thursday afternoon. May 8. Mrs. E. A. Aubry of Michigan avenue will be the hostess. HELD MONTHLY MEETING. The Parents' Club of the Wallace school met at three o'clock yesterday afternoon in the kindergarten room. There was a large attendance of the membership at the meeting. The afternoon's program was very Interesting and enjoyable. Serving on the program and refreshment committee were Mrs. Smith, chairman, Mrs. Miller. Mrs. White, Mrs. Milliken and Mrs. Dowdell. The pext meeting will occur Thursday evening, May 22. At this meting each member wil relate her experience In earning twenty-five mnpta or more for the purchase of a muwie -cabinet for the school. Pedro was played progressively by the members of the Golden Rod Club who were invited to meet with Mrs. R. Jobbitt at her home In Oak street yesterday afternoon. The members played at three tables and after several games the honors were awarded. Mrs. A. D. Crisman won the first honors, Mrs. Kauffman the second and the consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Green. A dainty two course luncheon was served the guests after several games of cards had been played. -The next meeting of the club will occur In two weeks at the home of Mrs. Kauffman in State street. ciety held its regular weekly meeting last evening in the Sabbath sohool rooms in the Rimbach building. Miss Mae Arkin read and there was a lecture on the Passover. The evening's program was especially interesting and enjoyable last evening. There was a large attendance of the membership.
