.V EXJOVABLE MEETIXS. A delightful meeting of the Ladies ft the KnlRhts of Columbus took place . esterday afternoon In the K. of C. lub rooms in South Hohman street.

It was the afternoon for the regular J semi-monthly meeting and a number ( of the members were present. Cards , were a feature of the afternoon and the guests played pedro at several tables. The honors in the games were . won by Mrs. J. T. Flavin, Mrs. Lawr- j nee Long and Mrs. John Leary. The prizes were awarded after several games had been played. The next

meeting of the club will occur in two weeks on the afternoon of May 7. A MEDDIXG A!VNOl"XCE.llE.T. Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Anna Bunde, 473 150th street and Frank Deemere. Their marriage occurred Thursday. April 10 at Crown Point, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Deemere will leave Hammond next week to make their future home in Gary. "THE WORLD IN CHICAGO" Bishop McDowell Will Formally Open Exposition. Announcement of the ceremonies attending the formal opening of "The AVorld in Chicago," the missionary exposition which opens in the Coliseum and Auditorium theater May 8, for a period of five weeks, was made yesterday. The exposition will be formally open

ed Saturday afternoon by Bishop William F. McDowell, resident bishop of the Methodist Episcopal church in Chicago, who will speak In the Coliseum at 2 o'clock. William Jennings Bryan, secretary of state, will speak in the Auditorium theater Sunday afternoon on the objects and purposes of the exposition. Just prior to Mr. Bryan's address a choir of 300 voices will sing the music included in the score of "The Pageant of Darkness and Light," the . masque oratorio, which will be presented twice daily at the Auditorium during the exposition.

Tonight in the Third Presbyterian church, Ogden avenue and' Ashland boulevard, will be the first mass rehearsal of the, pageant choir.. In the pageant will be a total of 3,000 voices, and at tonight's rehearsal at least 2,000 will be present. Harrison M. Wild, director of the Apollo club, musical director of the pageant, will conduct the rehearsal.
