Gravel Road Petition. STATE OF INDIANA, COUNTY OF LAKE. COMMISSIONERS' COURT. MARCH TERM, 1913. THIS ROAD TO BE KNOWN AS THE JOSEPH HUMPFER ROAD. To the Honorable Board of Commissioners of Lake County: We, the undersigned, respectfully represent that we are each and all bona fide freeholders and voters of North Township,. Lake County, Indiana, and that we are entitled to vote at the general election held in said North Township, County and State aforesaid. The petitioners respectfully pray aid Board of Commissioners to estab lish and cause to be constructed under the provisions of an Act entitled "AN ACT CONCERNING HIGHWAYS," which Act provides for the location. vacation and change thereof, and proldlng for the construction of free gravel, stone or macadam roads, and for the payment of the cost thereof, and their main tainance. which said Act was aprpoved March 8th, 1905, and In orce April 15th, 1905, and the amend ment thereto which was approved February 25, 1907, a free gravel or tone road lying along the following route, to-wit: Commencing at the southeast corner f the northwest quarter of section welve 12, township thirty-six (36), North, range ten (10) west of the second (2nd) P. M., running thence west long the south line of said northwest quarter a distance of 1816 feet, more or less to the state line between Indiana and Illinois. That said proposed highway starts at and ends in highways which are improved with macadem. Said proposed road Is less than three 3) miles in length, and about one-half H) mile In length, In said North Township, Lake County, Indiana. Said highway herein described and which is hereby proposed to be Improved is now located and established s about one-half mile In length and sixty (60) feet in width, and it is pro posed to Improve said highway to a width of twenty (20) feet. Your petitioners further respectfully petition that said highway be Improved by grading, draining and paving the same with stone and slag and that the same be paved to a width of twenty (20) feet, with a four (4) foot berm on each side of said Improvemnet, and that all necessary drains, side drains, bridges and culverts be so placed and constructed as to make sa'id stone road a complete and Improved highway, and It Is proposed to Improve said highway by placing thereon stone and slag to the depth of twelve 12) inches after being thoroughly rolled. And said petitioners further show that said North Township, Lake County, Indiana, has no Incorporated Town or City within its corporate boundaries which has a greater population than 30,000 inhabitants. Said petitioners further show that said road will be a public utility to drain, pave and grade the same as In the width and manner herein set out, and that the costs thereof will be less than the benefits thereto. Said petitioners further show th said road is less than three miles in length, and that said highway Is about one-half mile In length, and that the same connects a heretofore construct ed, laid out. and established free stone road In North Township. Lake County, Indiana, as herein set forth, and that it Is now laid out, established to a width of sixty (60) feet and used by the public generally. And your petitioner further prays for the improvement of said highway In all things In accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "AN ACT CONCERNING HIGHWAYS," approved March 8, 1905, and all acts amendatory thereof, and supplemental thereto, and that said highway to be constructed by order of the Board of Commissioners of Iake County, Indiana, without an election being held therefor.
