was not clamoring for open nights and about two years ago the progressive merchants decided that keeping open on Monday. Friday and Saturday nights would be sufficient. The E. C Minas Co. went farther and was later followed by Minas 6 and 10-cent store and the Woolworth 5 and 10-cent store, a step in eliminating the Friday business night, keeping open only Monday and Saturdays. Their two-night policy therefore continues unchanged with the exception that for the sake of uniformity they, like all other merchants in the agreement, will keep open on Friday and Saturday nights In the future. All stores in the agreement eliminate the Monday night business hours. I Co-Oprtt Needed. The uccess of the movement will depend on the faithfulness with which the merchants adhere to their agreements. The credit for getting all the merchants to unite belongs to Harry Minas, who started out forty-eight hours ago with the petition. During the month of December, however, according to the agreement, ttt stores may be open every night in the week, excepting Sundays, this being recognized by all the signers as a nonbusiness day the year around and to be enforced by law if necessary, according to some of the merchants' statements today.
