The Hammond, Whiting & East Chicago Railway Co. announces that in accordance with requirements of a city ordinance passed by the common council of the city of Hammond and put in effect March, 25 all cars will hereafter stop Qn the near side. The front of the car will stop at the near street crossing. Passengers will, therefore, stand a full car length back of this crossing. Cars will not stop at the far crossing to receive any passengers who may not be acquainted with the new order. - ' i " ' The indulgence of the public is asked in case of any delay in the service that may result from lack of familiarity by the public with the near side stop.

HONOR I1SS MALEITSKl. The Miases Meta and Lilly Fedder of Fast State "street gave a very pretty party last evening In honor of Miss IJertha Maleltski. one of the brides of the season. Miss Maleitski's marriase to James McQoaid of Indiana Harbor will be one of the events of the near: future. The Misses Fedder were hostesses at a picture shower and the bride-elect received numerous pretty gifts from the" young women of the J. X. Embroidery Club who were the only guests at the party. Miss Maleltski is a member of the N. X. Embroidery Club and the party last evening was one In a series that has been given In her honor by the club members followlng"the announcement of her engagement a few weeks ago. A part of the evening was devoted to needle work after which the guests were Invited into the dining room for refreshments. A beautifully appointed lunchean was served in three courses. A -bouquet of jonquils decorated the center of the table. - The table appointmerits were in white and yellow. Pretity favors In these crtors were given the guests. Nauer. ,The hours until four o'clock were pleasantly spent with needle work after which the guests were served with a dainty lunchseon. ,The luncheon was served In two courses. The luncheon table was "decorated very prettily with white 'carnations and ferns. In two weeks 'the club will meet again and Mrs. J. "P. Gero wll be the hostess. the home of Mrs. J. E. Wolf in East Statestreet. Th members were all present and spent the hours until four o'clock- very enjoyably with their needle Work. A dainty luncheon was served in two courses. The tables were decorated with flowers. Next Tuesday afternoon the members will meet again and follow their uusal social program. they will announce their at home to
their friends. The announcement of the wedding will come as a surprise to many. Although it was not intended to -keep it secret the plans were

are both very prominent Hammond

One of the prettiest of the sesoti's dances was given last evening by the members of Orak Shrine. The, party was given In the Masonic Temple In Muenich court -which had been elaborately decorated for the occasion. The prevailing colors were red, white and
green. The pillars were draped with
these colors and ferns and other pretty greenery were banked In the windows.
The orchestra was stationed behind a
setting of palms arid ferns. A pretty
program was played for the dance.
Sixteen dances composed the evenlng'8 program. The grani march opened the program of dances at nine-thirty. -Dr. and Mrs. H. IS. Sharrer lead the grand
march. The dance programs were dis
tributed during the march. A delicious
frappe was served during the evening.
A feature of the evening which was particularly interetsing was the drill given by the members of the patrol. The dance was the first to be given by the Shrine this season and it was a decided success socially. There was a large attendance cf Hammond people and every one reported having spent a very enjoyable evening.

COUNTRY CLUB There will be an informal dance at the country club tomorrow evening. Luncheon will be served at 11 o'clock. The Sunday musical program, which has become very popular, will be rendered by the Christian church male quartet. Aside from this Miss Wolter will be the soloist of the evening.
A special veal dinner will be served
Sunday at the country club. The hours are from 1 to S and Manager Meek usually serves to the full capacity, of the dining room. A great deal is being made of the members Saturday nlght. These affairs are delightful and alarge attendance at the session next Saturday is urged.

A BIRTHDAY PARTY. Mrs. John Jacobson celebrated her birthday anniversary yesterday afternon by entertalnig a number of friends t her home, 415 Calumet avenue. She received a number of pretty gifts in remembrance of the day. After a few hours spent pleasantly with needle work and music the guests were invited Into the dining room for refreshments. An elaborate luncheon was served.

The" attendance this year was not as large as usual. The dlsagrfeable weather prevented a number from attending who until yesterday-lully expected to be present. Since the organization of the Auxiliary the musical has nad a place of prominent on tho Club's social calendar and this year some of Hammond's best talent gave the program. The program was made up entirely of old time favorites. There were chorus selections, ' Quartet and duett numbers and vocal aid piano solos.
