AXM'AL EASTER BALL. The committee has completed all arrangements for the fourth annual ball to be Riven by Justice Lodge No. 419 I. A. to the H. of R. T. in the Masonic Temple In Muenich Court Easter Monday evening, March 24th. A number of tickets have been told in Gary and East Chicago and it is expected that the attendance at the dance will be very large. "Walsh's orchestra will furnish the musi The decorations in the ball room will be very elaborate and will be carried out almost entirely in the
lodge colors. The dance will be one
of the prettiest and most delightful of the post Lenten seaosn.
A STUDY MEETING. The members of the Hammond Jewish Literary Society met at the residence of Charles Arkin. C3 State street last evening- instead of at th Sabbath school rooms in the Rimbach building' aa was first announced. There was a large attendance and several new members were enrolled. A feature
of the program was the reading of "The Merchant of Venice" by . Miss Mae Arkin. After her reading; several of the leading characters were discussed. The evening's program proved very interesting and enjoyable. It was announced that the next meeting would take place Thursday evening, March 27th. in the parlors of the First Christian church in Calumet avenue for an all day x session. The meeting was in charge of Committee No. 1 of which Mrs. Grant Walters la chairman. They had home bakery for sale and realized a nice sum for the church. Committee No. 1 wil conduct two sales tomorrow, one at Ruff's Hardware store in South Hohman street and the othr at Grisworld's store In East State street. The public Js cordially invited . to attend. The chicken pie supper which the members announced would take place Thursday evening at the church has
had to be postponed Indefinitely. The usual program will be followed at the meeting next Thursday. After the business meeting yesterday the mem
bers quilted and accomplished a great
deal of work.
ENTRRTAINS INFORMALLY.
The young women of the A. D. Q.
Club were delightfully entertained last
evening by Mrs. Ella Hageman at her home in Highland street. The mem
bers with the exception of one were present. They spent the hours until ten o'clock with their needle work after which a dainty luncheon was
served in two courses. The evenin
was spent very enjoyably. Plans were made to meet again In two weeks at the home of Misa Ethel Hoffman In Sumer street. Miss Hoffman will be
hostess at a thimble party. A SOCIAL SESSION.
The members of the Baptist Women's Union met in the parlors of the church

Hammond Country Club last evening.
Bridge whist games were played progressively at ten tables. High scores were made by Mrs. Peter Crumpacker and Mr. V. F. Bridge. The card games continued until eleven o'clock when re
freshments were served. The party was very much enjoyed by the many guests.
