A nH IDE'S PART. i A very pretty bride's party was given by the Misses Emily and " Bertlia Kbert at their, home In South Hohman xtreet last evening coinplimenUry to Miss Bertha Maleltske whose marriage to James McQuaid of Indiana Harbor will.be an event of the near future. The Hisses Kbert were hostesses at a towel shower and the bride-elect received many beautifully embroidered towels as gifts from, the young: women of the X. N. Kmbroidery Club who were the only guetss at the party. It was the evening for the regular club meeting and the shower was kept a surprise for Miss Maleitske. After a few hours spent pleasantly with their needle work the guests were invited into tne dining room for refreshments. A beautifully appointed luncheon was served in three courses. At each cover was a little doll daintily costumed. These were given as favors. The appointments were In white and pink and the decorations at the table were very-beautiful. - A bowl of pink and white sweet peas decorated the cente rof; the table and there were candles topped with dainty and pretty shades. The next cluo party will be given at the home of the MIscs Fedder In East State street Tuesday evening-. March. '25th. " It will be a thimble party. , AV AFTER.NOON- PARTY. Mrs. TV. J. Whinery entertained the members of the Optimistic Club very delightfully yesterday afternoon at her home In East State street. The honor fruests were Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Fred Kauer of Lawrenceburg, Indiana who are here on a visit. The guests spent the afternoon until four o'clock with their needle work after which they were invited Into the dining room for rfreshments. A dainty luncheon vai served in two courses. The table was decorated very prettily with roses and carnations. A color scheme was carried out In white and pink. The flowers were given as favors. The next ' meeting of the club will be held at the home of Mrs. John E. Wolf In East State street Tuesday afternoon, March loth. A delightful evening was spent by the Loyal Sons and Loyal Daughters classes of the First Christian church in the parlors of the church in Calumet avenue last evening. The members of the Loyals Sons Class acted as host, and the entertainment they planned was vcr much enjoyed. After a- program of games and contests a supper was served. The covers were laid at there tables. The refreshments were prepared and served by the boys. The following are the class members who acted as hosts last evening: Edward Hess. Claude Hudson, Carl Lange. Frank Child, Bruce Cordua. Edward Ford, Gomer Evans, Clyde Itudson, Milo Reed, Earl Dockery, Earl McQuiston. Russell Wilson. Carl Neiderhardt, Leslie Miller, Percy Harmer, Paul Marquardt. Elmer Stone, ' Clifford Smith, Ord Granger, Elmer Peterson, Edgar Sohl, Ermil Reed, James Magulre, Phillip Passage, and the class teacher, Levi Golden. A number of the young women of the Loyal Daugnters class were present. Their teacher, Mrs. Milner was also present. Wit, MEKT FRIDAY. The .Standard Bearers will meet with Miss Edith McConnell at her home in Doty street Friday evening. It will be the regular monthly study meeting, the study for the evening being devoted to the chapter in the text book on '"China's Revolutionary Work." A very interesting program has been arranged. It is desired that many members attend the meeting;. ENTERTAINS INFORMALLY. Sirs. Ella Hageman will have the members of the A. D. Q. Club as her guests Thursday evening. It will be a thimble party and the guests will devote the evening to their needle work. BOY SCOCT8 MEET. The Junior Boy Scouts haa a very interesting meeting last Monday evening in the parlors of the First Baptist church in East Sibley street. A number of boys were present. Mr.' and Mrs. John McLean. 48$ Hoffman street are entertaining Mr. Mc Lean's mother and two brothers, Wil liam and Robert who are In Hammond for an indefinite period. It has been twenty years since Mr. McLean nas seen his relatives and twenty-five years since he has had any word from them. Mr. Mr. McLean came to America twen ty-eight years ago his parents lived in Garagh County, Ireland. His father has since died. Only a short time ago Mr. and Mrs. McLean wrote to the pos master at Derry. Ireland who forwarded the letter to relatives of Mr. McLean's in Scotland and through them the mother and brothers were located In Montreal. Canada. Within six weeks after receipt of the letter they were on their way to Hammond. The reunion has been a very happy on. A STIDY MEETING. The members of the Hammond Jewish Literary Society will meet Thursday evening in the Sabbath school rooms In the Rlmbach building. The meeting is called for eight o'clock. Miss Mao Arkln will rend "The Merchant of Venice." The evening's program will be very interesting and It Is desired that there Is large attendance of members at the meeting. MEETING WAS POSTPONED. The meeting of the Ideal Book Club which was anounced would take place last evening wast postponed for another week for the convenience of the members. Next Tuesday evening the members of the club will be entertain at the home of Mrs. "Alva A. Young In Calumet avenue. The evening will be devoted to the discussion of current magazine articles and books. AX AFTERNOON PARTY. Mrs. O. H. Clover is entertaining at a thimble party this afternoon at her home In East State street. Her guests for the afternoon are the members of the I. G. R. Club. THOMPSON A HOSTESS. Mrs. J. W. Thompson, 501 HolTman street will be at home to trie members of the Ladies' Aid Society of the Pine street Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon. IS IMPROVING. Mrs. Joseph Kasper who has been very ill for a number of weeks at the Chicago hospital, 49th and Cottage Grove avenues, Chicago Is improving nicely. She was able to sit up for a short tlma yet?rday and it is believed that she will be able to be removed- to her home at 289 East State street Fri day-. Her Hammond friends will be glad to learn of her recovery. A THIMBLE PARTY. A pleasant afternoon will be spent by the members of the G. I. A. Embroidery Club who were invited to meet With Mrs. C. W.
