REITER HAS - : GOOD RECORD It is very noticeable that very few appeals to the upper courts ara beingr taken from th decisions of Jude Virgil ,H Relter of the Lake superior court. ( : ; Bailiff John A Knew, who has been attached to Rniter's court for the past five years, says that In all that lime he has been reversed only once.
On another occasion he tinthe.d the trial cf a case that had been begun bj- Judpre Harry II. Tuthill. That 5s, hi refused a motion for a new trial In the case. The supreme court reversed him In this. It Is said that Judfte Retter has khe best record of any Judge In the state. One jude down in Huntington is said to have had nearly half of his cases reversed. TWO DESERT WIVES. INQUIRY FOR I
There has been this week a notable Inquiry for lots in Kenwood addition, the new residential sub-dlvleion that has been opened by th Hammond & Suburban Realty Co.. In the southern portion' of the city, brought about by an advertising campaign. Some of the things that have been done to develop the territory in which the Kenwood addition is located are as follows: Forty acres of ground have been subdivided into nearly 400 lots and Hohman street was straightened by " the donation of a strip of ground nearly a quarter of a mil long and 60 feet wide, while the county has built a 40foot ravement on Hohman street and appropriated $40,000 for a splendid concrete bridge over the Little Calumet river. Kenwood avenue has . been ordered opened from Hohman street through to Calumet avenue creating a new artery of traffic. The final approval of the award of benefits and damages is all that remains to be done. A sewer system has been built at a cost of $2S,000 which will make deep basements possible in the whole sub division and the city engineer is now preparing plans and specifications for nearly a mile of walks, curb and gut ter. These will be built within sixty days. The board of public works has or dered the installation of water service pipes in the entire northern portion of the sub-division and will extend the service as rapidly as It is needed, and the Northern Indiana Gas & Electric Co. will install gas service as soon as the first houses are completed. A number Of houses are to be erected by the company this spring and sum mer on choice lots In the sub-division. Plans for these are being prepared now. Grading, grubbing and the work of THE TRIE TEMPLE OP GOO. Mr. C. H. Swingle of Chicago again lectured to a large and Interested audience In the K. of P. hall last Sunday. Those present were unusually attentive and expressed their appreciation of the discourse. Mr. Swingle, has been with us a number of times. His thorough knowledge of the Scriptures and his absolute loyalty to themt coupled with intense earnestness, make his lectures extremely interesting. Mr. Swingle is to speak next Sunday at 3 p. m.. In the K. of P. hall, on the subject: "The True Temple of God." Is It In ancient Greece, or does it stand at MoccaT Was it "the Temple of Solomon in all its glory, or that one in which Jesus taught the Doctors?" Is there a man who can point to one of the great edificies for divine worship now standing and say "That is the true Temple of God? or is It a community or sect, a code or creed by which the Lord is praised, and will we ever recognize it that we may worship there? Mr. Swingle will show Sunday that the God of our Bible would not leave those who seek to worship Him In spirit and in truth ' or in ignorance of the answer to these questions. He has many Scriptures, which will make clear the answer to even the skeptical and agnostic. K. of P. hall, over the Lion store, Hammond. Ind.. MORE ABOUT RHEUMATISM ALSO BAD DIGESTION. What is the cause of rheumatism? I suppose there is no definite answer to that question or at least, answers would differ. Probably more cases are caused by bad digestion, resulting In faulty metabulism than in ally other one cause. The great trouble is so many people do not recognize their weak digestion until" much damage is done and even then many do not know it. Often 1 ask my patient: How is your digestion? and he saya: "Oh, my stomach is all right, I can" eat any thing." And right there is their trouble. Just because they have no pains in their stomach and can eat, it never occurs to them that their di gestion is at fault and may be th cause of other troubles of which they are complaining. And so they go on taking medines reputed to cure rheu matism and wonder why they get ho results. In treating any disease, th cause must first be removed. Not all cases are caused by faulty digestton. At another time I shall have more to say on the subject. In the meantime, remember that I not only treat rheumatism, but do all kinds of office work, such as eye, ear, nose and throat troubles. I treat skin diseases, stomach, intestinal and liver complaints men's and women's diseases, etc. If you are afflicted in any way, I invite you to call. DR. Three months ago we began our Easter preparations by searching the best markets for
and all 'essentials to Women's dress. The results are dominant in our big and beautiful showing. , Ask any Woman who has been here during our opening display and she'll tell you "That Hammond has never had such merchandise in- any store before." And just because we are giving you better styles don't think for a minute that you'll be asked to pay top prices. No, indeed, you'll find it just the opposite. Our low margin profit policy is noticeable on every price ticket, and you'll wonder why prices are so much lower tyian you've been accustomed to paying anjnvhere. x UDonti Pest OH QN(Som3 Today .and Select Vour EacHcr Apparel While stocks are the most complete. .Make small payment and we will hold any purchase until wanted.
