CUeS CRUSH YAHS III CLPHNAL. 7-5 Darkness Puts End to Last Game of Trophy Series Eighth Inning.

Tampa, Fla., March 13. The Cubs regulars won the Stanford cup yesterday, beating: the Yannigans in the decisive game of the series by a score of 7 to 6, after a combat so bitterly fought that It was called on account of darkness at the end of the first half of the eighth inning. The Tannlgans licked themselves by errors on the infield. Not one of the seven tallies the regulars made off lavender ought to have occurred". Manager Evers helped break up the Yannigan Infield by drafting Martin

Berghammer to fill the vacancy at

short on the regulars caused by Bridwell's inability to get 'back into the sorap. That compelled Cap. Miller to p ce Knlsely at second base. He booted three easy chances, but only one cut any figure. The rest of the expensive errors were made by Corrlden, Phelan and Lavender himself .

Sacramento, Cal., March 13. Harry

Wolverton, ex-manager of the New

York Yankees, became popular with

the Sacramento baseball fans yester

day. He presented a ball team that

beat the White Sox 5 to 3 in a rattling game, and today every fan in' town is

swearing by him.

An analysis of the game shows that Sacramento won because the Sox had

two distinct and horrible blowups. But that doesn't make any difference to the

fan, who sees nothing but the score. The Sox picked up a bit in their bat

ting, but gave an exhibition of fielding

In two different innings that would

have been shameful for a college team. They demonstrated four times in those two innings that they can throw the ball as wildly as any one. and it was those four wild heaves that tossed the

game to the coast leaguers.
