Dinner Dance A Big Success

Perhaps the most delightful of the smaller parties given by the Hammond Country club during- Its entire existence was that had last night when the closing1 function In the February calendar occurred. The event was a dinner-dance, and was attended by about thirty couples. Covers- were laid. f or sixty and the menu was a moat appetizing five-course afratr, for which Manager Meek's chef had fairly outdone himself. The party was a formal

affair, but was entirely, informal in lta spirit Elster'a four-piece orchestra played a splendid program of SO

dances from the balcony. Those who attended the function were unanimous

in their praise for the arrangements

for the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo

C. Bailey of Kast Chicago and Mr. Henry . Brunner of Mansfield, O., were

the only out-of-town guests. While the dancing program was carried out In thei main hall, a number of couples

played bridge in the banquet room.

CELEBRATES AXXlVERSAHV. A number of children were delightfully entertained at the home of Mr. end Mrs. Walker, 762 Claude street last evening. Th party was given to celebrate the eleventh birthday "anniversary of their daughter, Mildred. The young people were entertained with vocal and Instrumental music by Mrs. Raymond Zoll. A number of games were played after which an elaborate four course luncheon was served. Mrs. Walker was asisted with the serving by Mrs. Zoll. A delightful party was given at the home of Mrs. Carl Anderson, 627 Ann street last evening honoring Mr., and Mm. Rusaell Bashore. The party was given by the members of the Amona and Agogra classes of the First Baptist church as a farewell surprise to Mr.

mond next week to make their home in Servia, Ind. A part of the evening

was spent pleasantly with, games and music after which a two course lunch

AN AFTERNOON PARTY. A pleasant meeting of the Oak Leaf

Embroidery Club took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ward

Kennedy In Truman avenue. Mrs. Kennedy was hostes at a thimble party.

work the guests were invited Into the

dining room for refreshments. A pret-

tily appointed luncheon was served in

two courses. The members of the club will meet at another thimble party In

two weeks on Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. John K. Reynolds had the mem

bers of the Golden Rod Club as her guests yesterday afternoon at her home In Ash street. Cards were the feature of entertainment and pedro was 'played

progressively at two tables. Mrs.

Frank Green won the first honors and

Mrs. Peter Pohlplatz, the second honors.

The consolation prize was awarded to

Mrs. R. Jabbltt. After the card games a dainty two course luncTieon was served. The next party will be given

Chidlaw at her home in State street. The party was given as a surprise to Mrs. Chidlaw and celebrated her birthday anniversary. The prises, beautiful cut glass vases were given to Mrs. H. B. Douglas and Mrs. W. D. Ray who were voted the two best w&ltsers. During the evening Mrs. Chidlaw entertained the guests with music. At twelve o'clock a beautifully appointed dinner of six courses was served. A bouquet of American beauty roses decorated the canter of the table and ropes of smilax and asparagus ferns were draped from the chandelier to the corners of the tables. tily decorated dinner cards. During the serving of the dinner toasts wer proposed by Mrs. O'Toole, Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Chidlaw. They were all very clever 'and caused a great deal of merriment.
