"Unter Zwel wappen ' might have put it, was the verdict of the German audience last night, at the Hammond theatre, on the appearance of the Volks theatre troupe. "Unter Zwel Wappen," meaning under two flags, or- rather coat-of-arms, given last night, was a success, finan cially and otherwise, and owing to this the Germans of Hammond will very likely have an opportunity to see other good German plays at home. The scenes are latd in Germany, and It is the aristocratic viewpoint of one of the principals and the democratic unpolished ways of the other that cre ate rich comedy scenes. "The next eight weeks are likely to witness the snuffing out of upwards of 1,200 lives by pneumonia in Chicago. In the eight weeks just passed there were 1.166 deaths from this cause."
