Washington's birthday tomorrow will be generally observed as a holiday the banks, postofflce and saloons beins closed. Exercises commemorating the day will be held in the public schools here .today. Miss Norma Bartholomae has been on the sick list for the last few days. It is reported that Ed Laws is quite seriously ill with pneumonia at his home on Main street. The Hazard club will meet at the home of Mrs. Julius Rockwell on Court street on Monday afternoon. It is said that Arthur Volk will be one of the citizens to embellish Crown Point with a new residence this' summer", to be erected on his property on East Jollet street. " The city council will meet on Monday evening to hear all property ownera -affected by the opening of West street now contemplated by the council. The new building and loan company which will soon be incorporated in this city is an institution Crown Point has long needed and it Is expected the new financial institution will be a great stimulus to the building: of homes at the county seat. Added to this the incentive for saving and a chance for safe investment by those of small means makes the new institution one which will be looked upon with favor by the small Investor.
