McGirr. Thre are fifteen companies making the 'device called for : in the
bill. any. one , of which would come under its provisions, - and we expect to take our chances .with the rest. The bill -would not give any one of these fifteen companies a "monoply, and all we propose to do' is to ask for an even chance with: the others. The bill In question was not presented by our company, , but was gt'ven to Mr. Van Home, who introduced it, by the chief of the Hammond fire department. Of course if the bill becomes- a law, we expect to compete like ' other companies." j

Boone got his man off altogether by showing that John Milligan had nothing to do with the theft of the money.
