Washington. D. C, Feb. 7. Th de
partment of Justice is Investigating the soaring price of crude oil in eohnec tlon With its inquiry to determine whether the decree dissolving the Standard Oil Company has been Violated.

It Is said some of the big companies
have & year's supply of crude Oil in their tanks and the present high price

LOTS TO BE SOLD BYJWHOLESALE Gary's Delinquent Tax Sale Next Monday Is to Be Biggest in History.
Lots to the number of 3.305 and many acre tracts, as advertised Jn a Gary newspaper, tvill be sold by the city next Monday because of the failure to pay delinquent ,ctty taxe and public improvement 'assessments. The notice of the sale occupied four full newspaper pages and extended over to a fifth and cost the city several hundred dollars for Us publication. Some of the assessments art as low as 85 cents, while others run up to the $3,272.63 mark. Most of the assessments are in the Tolleston vicinity, where numerous paving and sewer projects were made in the past few years. Beside the city tax sale the county treasurer will conduct a tax sale for hundreds of mors Gary lots bscause of the failure to pay county taxes. Last summer more than 1,100 Gary lots -were sold because of the non-pay-ment of taxes and assessments. In some Instances the assessments have been so high that property holders simply neglected to pay any further assessments.
