MAYO'S EFFORT

FELLJKROUGH

Tried to Exclude Reporters

From Gary Park Board Meeting, But Fails.

Efforts on the part ot Park Commis

sioner A. C. Mayo to have the Gary park board go into star chamber session, thereby excluding spectators and

newspaper men, waa frustrated by the other commissioners last night.

The park and school boards met In

Joint session at the Carnegie library to

take up the question of procuring a .

joint site ojf about 15 acres for school :

and park purposes in Tolleston. Land at Fifteenth avenue and First street

offere dto the commissioners by For- j

rest Rundell at $2,500 an aero was con- ! sidered rather high in cost.

The commissioners also considered lake front bites and President William

P. Gleason of the park board named C. P. Davidson and Bill Cain as members of a committee to look up other Tolleston and jlake front sites. Mr. Gleason will aeive as a member of the committee byl virtue of his holding the

presidency (of the board. I

The machine Is a twenty-flve horse power one, white in color, and cost $3,000. It is equipped in the most r todern fashion. Joe Kr imer a demonstrator from Chicago came out in the machine which arrived in Indiana Harbor last night, and will remain a fow days to demonstrate its handling to the purchasers. They do say that there was more method than appears upon the surface, in he purchase of this car by the Indi

ana HarDor undertakers, ji is wniaper-

ed that "Johnnie McGuan" has designs

on increasing his business by means of It. It would be an easy matter to create a few accidents, and, well.

what's the use in tipping It all off?

In any event It will be something of pleasure to ride in the new am

bulance, even though a broken leg or

a case of sickness ia required to secure

the experience, with the light-hearted

and merry Johnnie at the wheel and all the comforts of home and , then
