TIMES 'AD' AND PARCEL POST WILL BAR MIDDLEMAN tCoBtlnned from Pace Ll
time to wake up to this splendid opportunity. Right here in the Calumet region Is the BEST MARKET on earth. Right here there are 100,000 persons, and 99,999 are- "kicking" about the high cost of living and racking their brains for some way to buy their goods with
out having to pay big profits from on
to
to three middlemen for the chance
buy food and everything else. They have formed organizations to find a way around the middleman and deal direct with the farmer, the producer and the packer or manufacturer. Maybe you think they are not waiting for a chance to buy direct from the farm? Just send a three line advertisement to Thb Times tor publication at a cost of, say, 16 cents per insertion and then see the orders come in. Some farmere, dairymen and food packers already have seen the possibilities of wealth and are selling goods like hot cakes by The Times and the parcel post. One Cedar Creek farmer who thought he saw a way to sell goods direct to the consumer at city prices placed a two line "ad" in The Times last week announcing that he would ship eggs by the dozen or half dozen by parcel post. He sold ten dozen eggs at a cost of io cents for his sales agent The Times. Direct to Consumer. It cost him in postage less than onehalf the profits that would have been
taken by the wholesaler and retailer before his eggs could have reached the consumer, and he was able to sell his egga at a little less than city prices at that Usually an egg has to pass through at least two hands and somteimes three on the way from the henhouse to the breakfast table. -By this system of parcel post you deal direct with the consumer. It is a new idea and the consuming public Is taking to it like a hungry spring trout to a gaudy fly. All the public is waiting for Is to learn where and how they can buy direct from the farmer and the producer. They have been nursing the belief that they are paying more profits to the middleman than to the farmer, and they want to buy straight and as near farm prices as you can. afford to seK They have a "grouch" against the cold storage egg and old butter, and that is where you come in, that is your chance. Mr.
Farmer. It will not cost you much to test this system. A three line ad. that is placed
before more than 50,000 persons a day Is a wonder workers. The cost of mailing a pound of food products within the fifty-mile mailing pounds. ' The Times, whose small "ad." columns already sell thousands or dollars' worth of almost every kind of goods yearly, intends to make a special feature of this parcel post advertising. Just as the buying public of this vicinity has learned that The Times can sell almost everything for it, the farmzone around the Calumet region, which covers a large corner of Indiana, Is 5 cents a pound, or 35 cents for eleven ers and producers who are wide awake enough are going to learn that The Times can sell their produce direct to the consumer at city prices. . ' This Is the time to start your test of that system. Send in your little "ad." to The Times and you will be amazed at the results one of those little sales agents will produce.
