The Greek Catholic church of Whiting has been in the limelight again, during the past week as the result of the recent trouble again being thrashed out in court. On last Monday night, the beginning of the Greek Christmas, a midnight mass was held. Wililam Soroka decided to join in the worship and accordingly entered the church? As is. the custom those in ' attendance marched around to kiss the bible, which is held by the priest. Rev. Balogh according to Soroka refused to let him kiss the holy book, pulling it away. As he approached to perform this ceremony, Soroka after this rebuff went to the rear of" the church where unexpectedly he was seized by two of the worshipers and thrown out of the church and down the tairs. As the result of the trouble Soroka had an affidavit made out charging Mike Tobias and Mike Bundra with assault and battery. Tobias was arranged before Judge Atchison and after pleading guilty was fined $1.00 and costs, amounting to $15.25. Mike Bundra was also found guilty, but his attorney, L. T. Meyers waived a motion for a new trial. Soroka had formerly been a member of the Greek Catholic church, but owing to previous church trouble he withdrew, but its being Christmas eve he decided to join in tho services.
