U. took place last evening at the First Christian church in Calumet avenue. On account of the mkny holiday social functions the attendance was not as large as at former contests or as large as the members of the Union had anticipated. Those who were present were pleasantly entertained. The program -was arranged by Mrs. Helen McCarten the contest superintendent. One other Silver Medal ConMedal Contest will be announced. Lou Mills, 50 years old, a Gary resident for the past five years, passed away yesterday afternoon at his home, 116 West Fifth avenue. Death followed an operation that was performed some weeks ago. The remains were shipped to Lafayette today by Undertaker "Williams. Mr. Mills Is survived by a widow. THIEVES STEAL DENTIST'S GOLD When 'Dr. O. D. Morton of Gary returned ; yesterday afternoon from his Christmas vacation, which was spent at Hobart, he found that visitors had been .In , his office during his absence. The result of the visit was the taking

of about $100 worth of dental gold. Last night Dr. Morton learned that dentists at Valparaiso. South Bend, La Porte and Michigan City had suffered similar losses. In Dr. Morton'a opinion the dental robberies are the work of a gang of organized thieves. He states that a few days before Christmas a Hebrew visited his office and insisted on buying his gold supply, offering a high
