THE CHRISTMAS MEETIXG. The Christmas meeting of the Erthstane Club will take place this afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. C. Graves In Carroll street. Mrs. Graves will be hostess at a thimble party. A CHRISTMAS iflltTV. A number of little people. were charmingly entertained at a Christmas party last evening in the beautiful club house of the Hammond Country Club. Several of the children were accompanied by their mothers who thoroughly enjoyed the evening with them. The hours of the party were

from five to nine o'clock. The little

tots were entertained wHh stories from Santa Calus who also distributed candy, nuts and fruit among them. Games were played and the children

spent a very merry time. The large

living room which was the scene of the party was decorated very beautifully in the holiday colors of red and green. The chandeliers were trimmed

very attractively and there were pretty decorations of . holly and other Christmas geens. At one end of the living room was a large and beautiful Christmas tree. The members of the club met at nine o'clock and enjoyed

a program of dances. The evening's

program of music was very pretty

Bridge whist was played by a number of the guests. Refreshments were

served during the evening. The parties were two of the most delightful of the

Important plans for the future of the ;

public library were discussed at tKe board meeting last night and action

was taken to some extent to carry them out.

It was decided to mak four of the

public school bulldlnsr, the Irving, Riv

erside, Lincoln and Lafayette buildings, library stations, which are to be equipped with a set of books primarily

for the school children and to satisfy

the neighborhood patrons. To do this, the stations are to have books which are to remain there permanently, while

the balance are circulated from the Cen-

taral library. Plans were also discusBed for the chlldren"s library in the Central library building. he second lloor is to be equipped for this purpose at the ex-, pense of several hundred dollars. About sixty new books were ordered last night, mainly works dealing with political and economical questions.
