SHAKER-MORRIS NUPTIALS. Miss Stella Shafer, of Detroit street, a teacher In the Hammond public schools is to be married tomorrow at Crown Point to Mr. Frank Morris, a Hammond building contractor. Arrangements for the wedding were made very quietly and Miss Shafer continued to teach until tonight. After the wedding the couple will go on a two week's hoyenmoon visit which they wi'.l spend with Mr. Morris relatives in Iowa. Although Mr. Morris has provided a pretty bungalow home on Highlands street, they will not occupy it right away, but will make their home with Mrs. H. P. Shafer, the bride's mother at 122 Detroit street. COMMITTEES ARK APPOINTED. There was a meeting of the Ham
mond Motor Boat Club last evening at the home of G. V. Hunter in South Hohman street at which final plana were made for the dance to be given at the Masonic Temple Thursday evening, January 16th. Invitations will be issued during the next week or ten days. The annual dance of the Hammond Motor Boat Club is anticipated with a great -deal of pleasure by Hammond and out of town people as It is among the very enjoyable events of the winter. A REHEARSAL. The children of the primary depart
ment of the Methodist Sunday school will meet at two o'clock Saturday afternoon for a rehearsal of the Christmas program. It wil be the final rehearsal so It Is Important that every child is present. The meeting will be held at the church in Rusell street.
MRS. Hl'SSELL ENTERTAINS. Mrs. W. E. Russell. 23 Webb street was hostess yesterday afternoon at one of the prettiest of the Christmas parties. Her guests were the members of the Columbia Club who met for their semi-monthly meeting. In company with the members Mrs. Russell entertained Mrs. Phillip Hudson. Euchre

What was jocularly denominated as the Hammond Country Club's marathon bridge whist tournament running through the months of October, November and December came to an end last night when the concluding party of the series was given. It was the Christmas meeting of the club and all the members were present and Mrs. Tinkham of Valparaiso was an invited guent. A Grab Bag was a feature of the afternoonand there wer pretty gifts for all the guests. The members brought their needle work. A prettily appointed luncheon was served at four o'clock. At the meeting on Thursday afternoon, January 2nd Mrs. C. B. Tinkham will be the hostess and entertain the members at a thimble party at her home in Williams street. A DEL1GHTFCL PARTY. Mrs. Walter Hoke gave a very pretty party at her home in Condlt street yesterday afternoon In honor of the members of the Fern Leaf Linen Club. The members spent a pleasant few hours playing whist. Routsong entertained with music and their program was rery enjoyable. A three course luncheon was served at five o'clock.
