Preliminary plans which have been

approved by the East Chicago Congre

gational church trustees for a proposed $30,000 church building, will be sub

mitted tonight at a meeting of the

Sunday school teachers and workers, to be hel dat the residence of Mr. and Mrs. August Johnson in Magoua avenue. East Chlco.

There 5s no certainty that these

plans will be adopted, but they represent what to most of the trustees seems to meet nil the qualifications ot .....

an up-to-dat iJUlIulnB adapted to the

needs of a growing town like East Chicago. It is hoped that the plans may be perfected and the contract let this

winter so that work may begin early

in the spring.

Want Suggestions. The design under contemplation now

Is described as colonial in character, of brick and stone, the facade being of the latter material. The auditorium would have a seating capacity of 450,

the Sunday school rooms and a gymnasium being provided in the base

ment. The partitions would be roll

ing, making it possible to throw various .rooms together o noccaslon.

One proposition is to move the par

sonage on to anotner lot ana puna a

p-irsonage In combination with the church building, thereby adding to the size and appearance of the building. This plan contemplates the complete covering of the church property, ttj lots being 60 by 124 feet. The plan up for submission at tonight's session, however, does not provide for this. The Sunday school workers will be asked tonight for suggestions and the plans amended, if amendments are necessary, will be submitted to the church as a whole at a meeting to be held in the future.
