GABY'S MCWSnOV II P. HO. To the Editor: Billy Rush's heroic action has struck a tender chord in my heart and caused me to do some thinking. How many of us, being sound in body and enjoying good health, are ever as cheery, smiling and tender as this lad is described to have been, even in his affliction'' Life must have been sweet to him. By his cheery and buoyant "Good morning!" he often sent a fellow workman to his daily work with a much lighter heart than he otherwise would have gone.
His am pie who

flabby last night secured the services of Walter Eckersall of Chicago, who will act as official referee. So far this Is agreeable to both sides, as Mr. Eckersall Is known as one of the most capable referees in the Country, knowing every rudiment u the game and will be able to settle any dispute which, may arise. That the game will be one of the hardest f.aijfht football games that has ever been seen in Iike county la unquestionable, as both teams will face eac hother with the determination to win and will fight until the last whistie. This week both squads will be seen in hard scrimmage and drill work In order to be In the best possitlu shape Sunday afternoon. Hammond will be much lighter thin East Chicago, according to the dope that is being given out, and will have several new men in the lineup. Th Clabry A. A. will not have a single man in their lineup that has not taken part in at least one game this season. The
game is expected to unw a record -breaking crowd. It being the intention of East Chicago to bring over a large following, whil" Hammond will be well represented. The game will be called at 3 o'clock shtip.

It was not enough that he earned an honest living by selling newspapers and cheering people on their way; he needs must sacrifice his life for another. Let us take this lad's life into consideration and find out where we lack, and then determine to co on through the rest of this life smiling, cheery and tender hearted as Billy Bugh. INTEREST IN GAME
IS MARKED Never before in the history of any gridiron battle in the Calumet region has so much interest been taken as is evident in the coming Clabby A. A. vs. East Chicago championship battle, which will be staged at the H. A. A. park at Hammond next Sunday afternoon. Although two games are to bo played the victory for the winning team will not only mean championship honors but a large amount of money Is being wagered on the outcome by the ardent followers of each squad. In order to do away with all wrangling and quarreling Manager Jimmy
BOY SAVS HE WASN'T "FLIPPING' Little George Kirker, son of Thomas Kirker, a former East Chicago mill man, now living in North Hammond a short distance out of East Chicago, while playing along the B. & O. Chicago Terminal railroad tracks yesterday morning was run over by a train and his leg so badly crushed as to make amputation necessary. The injured member was nmputated at St. Margaret's hospital a short while after the accident. George, who is nine iars old, in company with some other boys, was playing on the railroad He denies that he was "flipping," but says the boys with him were thus engaged. He was merely running alongside of the train trying to "beat the cars" when he fell under the wheels.
BILL CAIN AND KNOTTS RETURN Mayor Thomas E. Knotts and William A. Cain returned today from Dayton, O., where they went to attend the funeral of M. Cain, the father of th Gary contractor. Alderman Tim Englehart, who was also at the funeral, has gone south for several days. Three deputy sheriffs were in Gary last night and this caused the belief at the city hall that they had a valiseful of warrants with them. They made ho arrests.
