a cHrnrii wedding. Ft. John's Lutheran church in AVest Hammond will be the scene of a pretty wedding- this evening- when Miss Frieda Ixrtz and Paul Ahlborn are united In marriape. The Rev. Preckel will perform the ceremony at sevon-thirty o'clock In the presence of a lare gathering; of the friends and relatives of the two families. The ring ceremony of the church will be used. Miss Elsie Lorti. the bride's sister will be the maid of honor and the bridesmaids will be Miss Sophia Ahlborn and Miss Anna Ahlborn. Max Schneider, Fred Lorts and August Ullrich will attend the groom. A wedding reception will follow the ceremony at the church.

At the service tables were shaded tapers In the prevailing colors and bouquets of flowers. The hostesses at the pretty affair were the Misses Agnes Mulcavare, Beatrice O'Donnell and Anna Ronhselange. Their guests for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Laue, Miss Llbble Gregg, Miss Walatka and Messrs. J. Ounyer, M. Russell, J. Parsons, W. Burk and M. J. Pryar. A COMMITTEE MEETING. The meeting of the history committee of the Hammond Woman's Club will take place Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Etta Bloomhoff, 31 Mason street. "Modern Literature and Art" Is the study Bubject. )Mrs. Knotts. Mrs. Lyons. Mrs. MacAleer and Mrs. Ottenheimer compose the program committee. The members of the social committee are Mrs. Dermedy. Mrs. Barnett, Mrs. Bloomhoff and Mrs. Wall. A LINCHEOX. One of the pretty parties of the WMk end was given by Mrs. W. D. Ray yesterday at her home In Glendale Park. o'clock Fourteen covers were laid. A miniature wagon fillc-d with fall fruits decorated the center of the table very prettily. Painty and pretty favors wero at each cover. In the parlors the flowers were pink kilarney roses. Th? quests brought their needle work and spent the afternoon socially. Music was a delightful feature of the afternoon's entertainment. The Standard T.earers had an interesting study meeting last evening at the home of Mrs. EUa Rloomhoff in Mason street. The preeldont. Miss Gladys Martin presided. There was a short business session after which a program was given. The study subject was "China's New Pay." Papers on the subject were re-ad by Miss Hazel Younger. Miss Huth Hathaway and M'ss Adele Punbar. Miss Martin who was a Hammond representative at the convention at Rensselaer, Ind., gave a report of the meeting Refreshments were served during the social hour. The members planned to have a Home Uakery sale Saturday, November 16th. , The proceeds will be used for the benefit of the society. EVTERT UN'S WITH CARDS' , Mrs. Fred Kralowetz entertained the ' members of the "500" Club at their 'semi-monthly meeting yesterday afternoon at her home, 405 Elm street. The members devoted the afternoon to cards i and played several games of r.M. Two tables were occupied. High score was made by Mrs. P. L. Pavls. Prises were , also won by Mrs. E. A. Mie and Mrs. j J. Pufrain After the card games a dainty luncheon was served In two courses. Mrs. T. Shea of Indiana ave- ' nue was named as the next hostess and , she will entertain the members on tiie : afternoon of Novomber 22nd.
HOLD MONTI! LV MEETING. A pleasant meeting of the Loyal Women's Class of the First Christian church tool! place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Cvinninsham in Carroll street. It was the monthly social meeting of the class. The members brought their needle work and spent an enjoyable afternoon. A dainty two course luncheon was served at four-thirty o'clock. There was a short business session when several matters of Interest were discussed. Mrs. A. C. Ehret was elected secretary of the society and Mrs. Rlchardon, treasurer to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. C. J. Sharp. Announcement was also made of the next meeting to be held the first Friday afternoon In December.

The members of the Hammond Temple No. 73 I'ythlan Sisters had an enjoyable meeting last evening in the K. of I Hall in South Hohman street. Following the lode session refreshments were served and a delightful time was spent socially. A short program was also given during the social hour. Mrs. Stewart sang a group of songs which were very much enjoyed. Her piano accompaniment was played by Miss Jenins. Miss Mae Luthman rendered a very pretty instrumental selection. MUSICAL COLLEGE DOES WELL Tlie present enrollment of 170 students In the Hammond Musical college Is the answer to the question, whether Hammond would support a conservatory. The school at the present time engages twelve teachers, who give Instruction in the various branches of music, theory as well as practice. The next ten weeks' course will open in two weeks and a material Increase In the membership is expected during the winter months. A week before Thanksgiving the college will give Its regular recital by the students.
