Charles H:ldreth had an unexpected and vicious assault made upon him yesterday, the miscreant being still at large. Mr. H'.ldreth was entering his barn preparatory to doing the evenings work, when he was knocked down by some one who had either been hiding in the place or was afraid of being caught there. The assault was made so suddenly that Mr. Hildreth had no time to make any defense, and it was some time before lie recovered from the shock to Rive the alarm.
