Board Meeting. The Hammond board of education met last Tuesday at the office of the hoard In the Eder block but only routine business was transacted. The next meeting will be in two weeks.
Democratic Speech. Frank Monnett Is the card which the democrats will offer to the general public at a mccttng to be held in Moose Hall tomorrow night. Monnett is the man who as a republican became attorney general of Ohio and afterwards, when he pot into trouble with the leaders of his party there, went over to the democrats.

Mrs. William Kelly, of Chicago, visited Whiting friends on Tuesday. On a warrant sworn out by Judge Atchison, Frank Matzko. John Smitiga. Mike Mukach and Mrs. Katie Galitsa. were arrested on a charge or rioting, the riot having taker, place in the latter's boarding house. The trial was held before Judge Atchison on Tuesday night, when all wer discharged with the exception of Mikash who was fined $1 and coets which he paid and was released.
