Mrs. W. R. Jenkins of 119th street was called to Chicago yesterday by an
accident which befell her sister-in-law.
Mrs. Harry Hannephin. Mrs. Hannephln, who resides on North Kedsie avenue, was visiting at the home of & friend a few doors from her home. In departing she stood for a few moments on the porch on the second story. She was holding her little daughter Helen, age 3, in her arms, and leaning against the banister. The banister gave way, allowing Mrs. Hannephin . and. her daughter to fall from the Second story to the ground below. In attempting to save the baby the mother wrenched her body, and the child escaped without a Bcratch. Mrs. Hannephin, on the contrary, received a concussion of the brain, caused by striking her head on the cement sidewalk, and also broke her Bhoulder blade. ' There are also several minor injuries, the patient being in a critical condition. Lyle Manbeck of Sheridan avenue will enter Purdue university on Sept. 8tb and will take up the study of electrical work. Mrs. Ed. O'Hara of Cleveland avenue has been visiting her sister in Oshkosh, Wis., where she went with her daughter. Miss Edna CTHara, who has entered the Wisconsin State Normal school. Flynn went Into conference with Promoter Tom McCarey this afternoon. The theme of their discussion tween the Fireman and Tommy Burns. Flynn has given McCarey the first opportunity to conclude negotiations to stage the bout here. It is said Burns claims the heavyweight championship since Jack Johnson has announced his second retirement. Burns is understood to be willing to conclude arrangements with Flynn. ' '
