A COSTIME PARTY. Mr. and Mrs. Edward nolts were honor guests at a party pTv?n by a. number of their friends in the neighbor last Saturday evening. It was a farewell party irlven in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Holtjs of Hay street who will leave Hammond during the coming: week to make their home In Fort Wa yne.jlnd. It was a Mard Time Tarty and seonie of the costumes worn afforded a Rreat deal of amusement. During the evening the guests played games on the lawn and listened to a program of music provided by Mr. and Mrs. IX E. Boone, Dr. J. Arthur Davis and Mr. O. L. Kinsey. Every number was thoroughly ' enjoyed. A supper was served at eleven o'clock. Covers were laid at one long table. The lawn was made attractive with miniature electric lights and Japanese lanterns. Among

the guests were Dr. and Mrs. J. Arthur Davis, Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Appleyard, Mrs. and Mrs. J. Floyd Irish, Mr. and Mrs. W. Ford, Mr. and Mrs. James K. MEET FHIOHV. The Standard Bearers will meet Friday Instead of Thursday of this week at the home of Miss Gladys Martin In Ogden street. The meeting will be called at seven-thirty o'clock Friday evening. It will be the annual "Mite Box" meeting and the members are " asked to bring or send In their boxes.

The election of officers will also be a

feature of the meeting.

I'ARTV WAS POSTPONED. The young people of the Golden Rule Class will give a skating party In the basement of the First Christian church In Calumet avenue Friday afternoon and evening, September 6th. They Invite their friends to attend. They have purchased many new skates to be used at their parties this fall and winter.

The young people desire to clear a nice sum of money at these parties. The proceeds will be used for the benefit of the church. The party which was announced for last evening had to be postponed on account of the meeting of

the Garfield Club. The men of the Garfield Club met for target shooting in preparation for their contest with a club, from a Chicago church. A THIMBLE P9IITV. The Misses Emily and Bertha Ebert wll have as their guests this evening at their home in South Hohman street the young women of the N. N. Embroidery Club. It will be a thimble party and the guests will bring their needle work to the meeting. FIRST MEETIXG OF NEW YEAR. Mrs. I. I. Modjeskn, 745 Walter street will be at home to the members of the Jewish Ladies' Aid Society Wednesday afternoon of this week. It will be the first meeting after the summer vacation and several matters of business will be discussed. AX ALL DAY SESSION. Committee No. 2 of which Mrs. Byhee Is chairman wll have charge of the

meeting of the Deborah Society Wednesday. The members will meet for an all day session Wednesday in the par

lors of the First Christian church In! Calumet' avenue. They will have home bakery for sale from which they hope to realize a nice sum to be used for the

their honor last Saturday evening at their home In State Line street. The party was given as a farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Prechtel who will leave for

Grand Rapids In the near future. Mr. Prechtel will study to be a Chiropractor. The guests at the party were the members of the JSyelet Embroidery Club and their husbands. They spent the evening in a pleasant social way. A delightful feature of the evening was the program given by Miss Shine and

Mr. Prechtel. Mrs. Haefer and Mr. Deaver made a few remarks in which they expressed regret at .Mr.and Mrs. Prechtel's moving from Hammond but wished them every success in their new
