Richmond, Ind., Aug-. 23. Before an audience of nearly 3,000 people as
sembled at the Richmond Chautauqua ast night Miss Virginia Brooks told the story of the shame of West Hammond, 111., and narrated her part in the cleansing of the town. She gave full credit to the newspapers that
backed up the reform . movement she was striving to Inaugurate. Though painting her home town as black as sin and corruption would make it. Miss Brooks told her audience that West Hammond was now making great strides toward better things. "If your town Is vlce-rldden." she said, "you have a bad administration at the helm. Drive out such administrations, and the rest will be comparatively easy."
