CHARMING FROCK FOR SEPTEMBER
MIMSTKK'S SO.V PERFORMS. Boy scouting appears to develop a remarkable brand cf daring and physical endurance. Karl Adams, the eleven
year old son of Rev. Adams, the scout leader, rapped hts wiry self around a slender and sleek 60 foot flag pole in the yard of Otto Matthles at Sohl and Fayette streets and climbed to the top yesterday afternoon. The pole is the largest in the city and the stunt is considered remarkable. As a result of Earl's courage a new rope Is attacked to the pinnacle. The scout modestly re- j fused reward. .4 ID SOCIETY WEATHERS STORM. Ladles cf the Monroe street chapel will meet at home of Mrs. Preston at Jackson street and Conkey nvenue tomorrow1 at 3:00 o'clock. Inclement weather has In the past few weeks wrought disaster to the plans of the church auxiliary. For the purpose of assisting their cause financially the ladies planned a number of Saturday afternoon bazaars and socials. As all were to be out door afTairs rain spoiled them on each ocasion. Not to be detered in a righteous cause the society will make further attempts. e'lans are to be laid for some of these at the meeting tomorrow. BACK FROM VACATIOX. Postmaster F. R. Theodore Blocker of Hammond is not engaged to a young lady of Lansing, Mich.,, as was announced in the social news on Monday. Through what was thought to be reliable channels the misinformation came to the leak of the social reporter. It latter developed that persons acquainted with Mr. Blocker had indulged in a ,bit of questionable joking. In fact it was the usual malicious pest who turned the trick.

Granger an attorney has bullded between legal entanglements an eighteen foot, flat bottomed, two roonied canvas topped houseboat soon to be christened "Kankukee-or Bust.". At present the Grangers are
encamped at the Crown Toint fair but with the termination of that event a team of horses will be attached to tho home made boat and the pilgrimage began. After a few weeks on the Kankakee Mr. Granger will store his boat on land that he owns along that waterway. Rules and regulations for the
game of houseboat building are simple
according to Granger. "First it is necessary to develop a case of insomania, or gout it was dyspepsia with me and receive orders from your physician to get out and work," said he. "Having the learned and superior advice of your wife and the able and

However it is but the calm that is proceeding stormy season of social affairs. Out of towners will
be coming back and the whirl of club meetings, luncheons, dances and dlnmers resumed. Today was not uneventful though.
