Mrs. Stephen Winters and Mrs. Stella Alyea are in Holland, Mich., enjoying a nice outi-ng. Friends in East Chicago have received word from the ladies that they are having a glorious time. Superintendent E. N. Canine returned yesterday from Brastl, where he visited Mrs. Canine's relatives. Previous to his visit here he had spent a few days at Waveland with his own relatives.

There are to be a wholesale number of arrests in Whiting, and it is hard to say who will be the next to be summoned before the bar of justice, owing to the non-payment of their dog license. These licenses were due on May 1st. The owners were given June July, owing to the leniency of the city officials. Then they lost their patience and everyone who failed to have his dog license paid by Aug. 1st are in arrears and will be haled into court, the list numbering nearly 100 persons.
