A POST XIPTIAL AFFAIR, A miscellaneous shower was plven at the home of Mrs. Kate Gelb In Webster avenue, last evening honoring Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Stewart, whose marriage was an event of last week. Mrs. Stewart was formerly Miss Dollle Gelb. The party was plven by the Daughters of Liberty and their invited guests were Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Geib, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burge and Miss Florence Stewart. The young- people were the recipients of many pretty and valuable frlfts. A musical progrram had been provided as a" feature of the evening's entertainment and irames were played. Refreshments were served during the evening-

dainty refreshments were served. AX AFTERXOOJf PARTY. Mrs. M. W. Stansbury gave a thimble party at her home in East Sibley street yesterday afternoon honoring the members of the M. W.' G. Club. Mrs. Stansbury entertained Mrs. Wolf In company with the club members who met for their regular bi-monthly meeting. After a few hours spent pleasantly with needle work a dainty luncheon of two courses was served. Mrs. C. B. Stiver will be the hostess at the meeting In two weeks on Tuesday, August 27th. She will entertain the members of the club at a thimble party at her home in May street. E.VTERTAINS WITH CARDS. The members of Sewing Circle No. 2 of St. Margaret's hospital spent a very enjoyable afternoon at the home of Mrs. Math Nickels, 243 Indiana avenue yesterday. The meeting day was changed from Thursday to Tuesday of this week for the convenience of the members. There were a number of members In attendance and Mrs. Nickels had Invited a .few friends to meet with them. Tedro was played during the afternoon and after several games the honors were awarded to Mrs. Jacob Young, Mrs. George Eder and Mrs. Erlewein.' Mrs. Mortiue and

Pedro was played progressively by the members of -the China Club who were invited to meet with Mrs. Leonard Knoerzer at her home in

Clinton street last evening. It was first announced that the meeting would be held with Mrs. Fred Humpher at her home in Kimbach avenue but other arrangements were made later. The games progressed at three tables. Mrs. Leonard Knoerzer retained the hostess prise and the only other prize was won by Mrs. Joseph Knoerzer. After several games had been played dainty refreshments were served. The luncheon was served in two courses. Twelve covers were laid at the small tables in

the parlors. The members planned to

meet again In two weeks and the hosiers will be named later. MRS, SHEA A HOSTESS. A very pleasant meeting of the Idle Hour Club took place yesterday afternoon at th home of Mrs. Thomas Shea in Indiana avenue. Mrs. Shea entertained with cards and pedro was played at two tables. Mrs. Gauthier of Mankota, Minn, who was a guest at the meeting won first honors and the second prize was won by Mrs. Frederick A. Bull. The consolation prize

was awarded to Mrs. R. E. Schoff. At

the conclusion of the card - garnet a dainty luncheon of two courses was served. Cover were laid for eight

guests. Mrs. Kitchell was named as

the next hostess and she will entertain

the members of the club at her home

in Claude street, Tuesday, August 27.

A THIMBLE PARTY. . The Misses Klein informally enter

tained a few friends at their home in

Conkey avenue last evening. Their

guests were the members of the N. N.

Embroidery Club who met for their regular weekly thimble party. The young women brought their needle work to the meeting. After a few

hours spent very enjoyably with needle work and music refreshments were

served. The luncheon was served in

two courses. Next Tuesday evening Miss Bertha Maleltske will entertain

the club members at her homo In Indi

ana avenue. Miss Maleiske will be hostess at a thimble party. EXTERTAIXS INFORMALLY. Mrs. Frank J. Waller will have as her guests Friday afternoon at her home In .Truman avenue, the members of tho "600" club. The members will play "600" during the afternoon and follow the usual social program of the club. MEETING WAS POSTPONED. The meeting of the Ideal Book Club which was announced to take place last eening at the home of Mrs. C. B.

NO LOVEJTHERE. Rushvllle, Ind., Aug. 14. The Rushvllle Glove company employs about thirty girls, and they are all up "In arms" because some Rushvllle wit painted out the letter "G" In the big black and white sign on the side of tho building so that It now reads "The Rushvllle Love company." Not only the girls, but the owners are Incensed over the so-called joke. The owners of the plant have offered $10 for the arrest and conviction of any of the jokers.

Foreign Missionary Society of the First M. E. church will be held Tuesday afternoon, August 20th. The hostess and the program for the afternoon will be announced later. The meeting was

The members of Golden Rule Council No. 1 D. of L. had a very enjoyable

meeting last evening in the K. of P. Hall In South Hohman street. It was the evening for the regular bi-monthly meeting and the usual business and social program was followed. There was initiation of a class of candidates during the evening. Plans for the next meeting in two weeks were made and It is desired that many members at" tend. There was a large attendance of the membership at the meeting last evening. Many remained after the business meeting to enjoy the social session. Refreshments were served during the social hour. A number of the members of Goldeii Rod Camp Camp ;NA". 1657 Royal Neighbors went to Whiting at noon today to attend the school of Instruction. ' The district deputy and the State Oracle will attend the meeting. The afternon session Is for the membera but the public is Invited to the meeting In the evening and It is desired that there is a large attendance. A literary and musical program has been prepared for the entertainment of those who attend.
