Miss Carrie Bledinger of Cincinnati, who Is the guest of her brother, H. E. Biedlnger and wife, will sing at both morning and evening services. The Methodist Sunday school picnic took place today, the pleasure seekers leaving East Chicago at 10 o'clock this morning for the scene of the festivities. A number of East Chicago ladles went to Indiana Harbor on Thursday to attend the birthday dinner of Mrs. Frank Orth, given to the members of the Birthday club. The Mission of the Good Shepherd held Its Sunday school picnic this afternoon and evening at Robertsdale. The picnickers carried with them auffiicent luncheon to last for the noonday meal and for supper as well, the men of the parish being expected for the evening. FREE LECTURE. The affair was in the nature of a housewarming, the Groves having Just moved Into their new domicile. Mr. Charles Egbert entertained a number of his men friends with a stag dinner at his home in Ivy street Thursday evening. Mrs. N. L Stenberg entertained the Birthday club at luncheon yesterday in honor of Mrs. Earl Murton, who will leave for her new home in Canton. O.. next Wednesday. A large crowd attended the Epworth league social given In the ethodist church last evening and everybody present spent a most enjoyable evening. Miss Anna McCormick of Ashland, O., has returned to her home after a few days' visit with Mrs. Cleve Rice of Grapevine 'street. A lecture will be given in the Methy ; odist church Friday evening, August 1, by Rev. DeLoss Tompkins, D. D., of Chicago, on the "Wreck of the Tasmania." Dr. Tompkins and family were returning from missionary work, in India and were aboard the ill-fated vessel at the time of the wreck. The lecture, which was given recently be- ! fore the Ministers' association of Chicago, and by Its members pronounced unusually good, deals with the harrowing Incidents that took place while the vessel was going down.'
