The Gary & Southern Construction gang is now busy putting in a T" on Main street for switching purposes, it being the last bit of track to be laid in Crown Point until the line is extended southward. The patronage of the road keeps increasing and there seems to be no question but what the line will be a paying venture from the start, contrary to the predictions of many.

Three grand protective laws are sadly in need of being enforced in Hegewisch, the dog muzzling ordinance, the weight ordinance and the ordinance regulating the speed of motorcycles. Kinsey, vice president of Val paraiso univers.ty, will let contracts fcr the erection of two new buildings for the university. One will be the home of the medical department, and will cost $65,000, while the other will be the musical conservatory, to cost $80,000. It is planned to dedicate both buildings Jan. 1, 1913. Hartford City Work' on the gas pipe line, which Is being laid by the Central Indiana Gas company, was stopped by Sheriff Townsend and Deputy Sheriff Lenon. They arrested about twenty of the laborers on trespass charges, preferred by Mrs. Isabel Smith, living west of town. Mrs. Smith says the gas company failed to obtain her consent to laying the line in the highway in front of her farm. Several other land owners say that the gas company neg-. lected to obtain its right-of-way before beginning work. -Princeton After eighteen years of a twentyyear contract with the Princeton Water company has expired a fight Is being made in the city council to force the company to live up to the previsions of Its franchise, which calls for filtered water and an eighty-pound firs pressure. No attempt has ever been made to filter the water, and it is alleged serious fire losses have been sustained because the water pressure is low. Councilman Spillman, in council meeting sought to have the six months' water rental bill of the company, about $3,000, held up, but the council voted 4 to 2 to allow the bill.
