Gary police reserves had to be called out yesterday afternoon to rescue Poundniastcr Mike Keserich ' and Patrolman Nick Miscovich from the hands of an infuriated mob of foreigners, men and women, who sought to wreak vengeance upon the pair for their energy in nforcing the. city pound laws. The battle took place in the Lincoln park district of Gary. Poundmaster Keseric had Just taken a couple of fine Holseteln cows, a pair
of goats, and four pigs into tow and was being escorted by Officer Miscovich who acted as a sort of convoy to Mike and his herd. Suddenly a buxom Bulgarian housewife discovered the officials making away with her cow and seizing a roll
ing pin she made for the luckless two. Other men and women followed and the mob seemed to spring out of the ground. In a few minutes it was of pretty large proportions and shouts were being uttered to scalp Mike and Nick in seventeen different languages. Finally some one phoned to the police station and the auto patrol wih Capt. Newman In command and Officers Eisner, Canady, Frank Martin and a couple of more of the day reserves hastened to the rescue. This they did with a great deal of difficulty.
