A PICXIC AT DOIGIVS PARK. ; The Sunday ' school of the Ocrman M. E. church will picnic at Douglas park on Wednesday. July 1". The festivities will commence at 10 o'clock in the morning. The children of the Sunday will be furnished with freelemonadc The first twenty-five people of arrive on the grounds will receive a dish of ice cream free of charge. The entertainment committee consisting of Mr. Fred Klejrrlst. Mrs. Laura Beinert and Miss Anna Becker has arranged for a number of games and contests, one of which will be a dish washing congest for married men and another a nail driving contest for married women. As many of the members and friends will not be able to r.ttend until later in the day. arrangements have ben made to serve supper on the grounds. To anybody, who wishes to spend an enjoyable day, away from the heat cf the city, a cordial invitation is extended to attend the picnic. CELEBRATES A.XXIVEBSAHY. Mrs. Fage will entertain a number of children at her home in Hickory street this afternoon between three and five o'clock in honor of her daughter, Sadie. .The party will celebrate little Miss Sadie's seventh birthday anniversary. The little people will be entertained with games during the afternoon. A BEACH PARTY. The girls of the Xu Tau Beta Club have planned an enjoyable affair for this evening. They will go to the Lake Front for a beach party. A picnic supper will be served after, which various games will be played. Bathing and boating will be other features of the evening. A number of their friends will be entertained at the party, among them Miss Marie Connell of Hyde Park. Chicago who Is Miss Marie Carter's house guest. MEETING IS POSTPOSED. The meeting of the Bta Alpha Tau Club which was announced to take place this evening has been postponed until the latter part of the week when Miss Elsa Maaepohl will be hostess at her home in Webste'r avenue. It Is expected that the meeting will occur Friday evening July 19th but definite announcement of It will be made later. Needle work and cards will be the features of entertainment. A BRIDGE PARTY. " The members of the Women's Auxiliary to the University Club will be entertained by Mrs. H. F. Melkle, Mrs. Allan Twyman and Mies Marion Demlng Tuesday afternoon In the University club rooms in South Hohman street. The afternoon will be devoted to cards and bridge whist will be played progressively. A THIMBLE PARTY. An enjoyable afternoon will be spent by the members of the M. W. G. Club who haa been Invited to meet with Mn. Ralph Pierce at her home In Michigan avenue Tuesday of this week. Mrs. Pierce will entertain at a thimble party and the guests will bring their needle work. Bouquets of pink and white carnations and greenery decorated the table very attractively and from the chandelier to the four corners of the tables were stretched pink and green ribbon streamers. Flowers were a pretty decoration in the reception hall and parlor. Miss Dahl was beautifully gowned in pale green silk veiled with white embroidered voille. Her flowers were pink kilarney roses. Friday evening July 26 a miscellaneous shower wil be given in Miss Dahl's honor by the members of the Aid Society and the ladles of the First Fresbyterian church. A meeting of Dorcas Rebeckah Lodge took place last Saturday evening in I. O. O. F. Hall in State street. It was the regular weekly meeting and the usual number of members attended. Following the lodge session a pleasant time was spent socially. Refreshments were served during the social hour. The next regular meeting will occur Saturday evening, July 20th and the usual business and social program will be followed. Leave on Outing. The Rev. F. H. Adams and fifteen Hammond Boy Scouts left this morning over the South Shore line for Chicago, where they took a boat which wll ltake them to Crystal Lake, Mich., for & two weeks' outing. The Hammond boys will form part of the Chicago camp. The object of the camp is to provide an attractive and beneficial place for a boy's vacation, and to furnish Ideal conditions for the scout training under the best of supervision.

Roads Were Fierce.

Baby Rabenhorst Dead. Max Rabenhorst. the two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rabenhorst. 511 Murray street, died at the family residence Saturday evening at 11 30 oclock. following a short illness of about three days. This is the second child that Mr. and Mrs. Rabenhorst have lost in the past week. Annie a 15-week-old baby, having died last week. The funeral was held from the family residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Claus officiated and interment was made at the Concordia cemetery. Mr. Rabenhorst is well known in Hammond, being a member of No. 3 fire department.

William H. Gostlin and his son William H. Gostlin Jr., made a trip by jautomobile to Waukesha, Wis., Saturday. They passed through a part of

the country that had been visited by a cloud burst and the roads were In a terrible condition. The Wisconsin roads are declared to be fare inferior to those in Lake county.

No Clue to Lawson. No clew has been found of Harry Lawson, who disappeared last Friday afternoon with I2h belonging to the Hammond Pure lee company, for whom he peddled. It is thought that Lawson is in Chicago.

Baby Neidow Dies. Walter Neidow, the 4-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neidow, 71 State street, died at the family residence at 1:30 yesterday morning following a lingering Illness of about a month. The funeral will occur from the family residence tomorrow arternoon. The Rev. Claus will conduct the services and Interment will be ' made at Concordia cemetery. William H. Brooks, assistant, will have charge of the arrangements.

Funeral of H. Beckman. The funeral of Henry Beckman. a pioneer and respected citizen of Lansing, -was held from the family residence yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The remains were the ntaken to the German Lutheran churcn. where services occurred cat 2 o'clock. Interment was made at the Lansing cemetery.

Cubs Are Defeated. In a slugging affair at the West Hammond grounds yesterday afternoon the P. C. Colts defeated the West Hammond Cubs by a one-sided score of 1 to 10. Herman Janns twirled, receiving' thirteen clean strikeouts to his credit, while C. Rakowskl of the West Hammond Cubs received nine. The P. C.
