Mrs. John Pascaly won the gruest prise. The card names continued until fourthirty o'clock when a dainty luncheon was served. Mrs. M. Klein was named as the next hostess and she will entertain the members at her home in Wet State street on Thursday afternoon. July 25th. Mrs. Klein will entertain with cards. ENTERTAINS WITH CARDS At her home in East Sibley street Mrs. Frank Baker very pleasantly en tertained the members of the Golden Rod Club yeBterday afternoon. Mrs. Baker entertained with cards and pedro was played at two tables. After several games the honors were awarded to Mrs. Reynolds. Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Shillenburg. A prettily appoint ed two course luncheon was served after the card grames. Covers were laid for eight guests. Mrs. Donovan was named as the next hostess and she will entertain the members at her home in Ogden street Thursday after noon, July 25th. PICNIC AT LAKE FRONT. The girls of the A. D. Q. Club have invited a number of their friends to picnic with them at the Lake Front this evening. They will serve a picnic supper In the park and enjoy games during the evening. A very enjoyable time is anticipated. The club meeting which was announced to take place last evening with the Misses Shearer at their home in East Sibley street was postponed. On account of the absence of several of the members from the city the attendance wa not as large as usual and there was no business of importance transacted. l was decided to have the next meeting the first Thursday in September. HOLD WEEKLY MEETING. The members of the Martha Society met In the parlors of the First Chris tian church in Calumet avenue yester day afternoon for a short business ses sion. The members decided to take orders for plain sewlns and Jt is expected that they will have a great deal of work to do. Orders may bo left with the president, Mrs. Edgar Singer. Next Thursday afternoon. July 18th the members will meet socially. A delightful program has been arranged for the afternoon and it is desired that many members attend. A SOCIAL SESSION. The members of the Ladles' Aid Society of the Evangelical Immanuel church and a number of their friends met In the parlors of the church in East Sibley street for a delightful so cial session yesterday. Refreshments were served at fonr o'clock. The meetings are held regularly every month and the next one will occur Thursday afternoon, August 8th. A social pro gram will bo followed. Anumber of the members of the Oak Loaf Embroidery Club spent a few hours very enjoyably at the I.ak Front yesterday. A picnic luncheon was served at noon and during the afternoon they went in bathing and devoted some time to their needle work and games. A CLASS MEETING. The members of the Gleaners Class of the Baptist Sunday school held their monthly social and business meeting at the homo of their teacher. Miss Grace Buttner, 533 Michigan avenue, Thursday evening, July 11. The business session consisted in the election of officers, after which games and music were the features of the evening. Mrs. Howard Burton Easter and Mrs. Lou Morris and son Charles are spending the day with Mrs. Jack Evans at her home in East Chicago. Mrs. Easter who was formerly Miss Marie Hansen came from Capa, S. D. last week to visit her mother, Mrs. Mary Hansen of Rimbach avenue and Mrs. Morris of Providence, R. I. is the guest of her mother, Mrs. C. C. Smith of Hammond. MIbs Gertrude Koehneman and Miss Inez Traffley will leave today for New York and other eastern cities where they will remain for two weeks the guests of friends and relatives. Mrs. John Hesterman, 237 East State street who had an operation performed on her foot last Wednesday is re ported to be improving steadily. Miss Leah Graves formerly of Ham mond but now of Chicago spent the day with Hammond friends. Mrs. Frank Wilson and daughter are entertaining Mrs. Bailey, Miss Carolino Scott and Mr. Hagenbothan of East Chicago at their home, 337 East State street. Mrs. G. B. Holtzlander is reported ill with erysipelas at her home, 218 Michigan avenue. Her attending phy sician reports that she Is doing as well as can be expected. She was removed to her home from St. Margaret's Hospital a few weeks ago. Chicken and fish dinner served at Sharpshooters park on short notice-6-28 T-5-12-19 Lodge Assemblies There was a meeting of William H. Calkins W. R. C. No. 248 yesterday afternoon in the I. O. O. F. Hall in East State street. It was the regular bimonthly meeting and the usual number of members attended. Following the business meeting a short time was spent socially. Refreshments were served during the social hour. The next meeting will occur in two weeks on Thursday afternoon, July 25th. This evening the members af Hammond Temple No. 73 Pythian Sisters will meet in the K. of P. Hall in South Hohman street for their regular bimonthly meeting. The members will remain after the business meeting to enjoy a short social session. The members of Dorcas Rebeckah Lodge will meet Saturday evening In O. O. F. Hall in State street. It will be the regular weekly meeting and the usual business and social program will be folowed. A large attendance of the membership is desired. Lakeyoods parK The Carnation dance held Wednesday night at the Park was one of the pret tiest events of the year. The bailroom was elaborately decorated and the floor was well filed throughout the. evening. Each person on the dancing floor received carnation, and every one seemed to have a good time. Next Wednesday night "A Night In Japan will be the novelty dance and elaborate preparations are being made to make this event the banner one of the season. Wednesday was the second anniver sary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Leon De Costa of Lake Woods, and they celebrated the day ln a varied manner.
