J. FRIEDMAN TO

BUILD NEW STORE

Hammond Architect Mak

ing Plans for East , Chicagoan. Julius Friedman, the East Chicago liquor dealer and hotel man, is having plans prepared for an extensive addition to his store and the Belmont hotel, the cost of which Will' be approximately $10,000. Mac Turner of Hammond is the architect. The addition will be on the rear of the present structure, the first floor of which is occupied by the Friedman liquor store and the upper floors by the Belmont hotel, and will duplicate in size the present building, which is

three stories, 25 by 75 feet, making

with the adidtlon a building 160 feet In lenth and adding twenty rooms to the hotel. The adidtlon will be of brick. Mr. Friedman's plans also contemplate the erection of a small building in the passage way adjoining his main building, this to be seven feet by eighty, by twelve feet high. The front fifty feet of this narrow structure will be let for store purposes and the rear thirty feet to be used as a store room for the Friedman liquor house, to house empty barrels, etc. The entire first floor of the addition will be used an an extension to the Friedman liquor store and the basement under the new part will form the boiler room. "A new boiler is to be provided and the old one moved to the new basement. The addition will enable Mr. Friedman to keep a large reserve stock on hand, shipping his stock in by carload lots, which he has been unable to do in the past owing to a lack of space to house It. The contract will be let and the work commenced as soon as the plans are completed.
