HAH. EY-W II ITM E V M PTI AI.S. The Rev. Ws Switzer officiated at the weddinsr of Miss Grace Bailey and Loren L. Whitney Sunday. The certmoney was solemnized at the Methodist parsonage ' in Russell "street, at half after twelve o'clock yesterday afternoon in the presence of the relatives of the young people. The ring ceremony of the church' was used. There were no attendants. The bride wore her froing away costume, ft pretty tailored suit with hat to correspond. After the marriage service, which was very simple and pretty, a dinner was served at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Whitney, 1 West Gostlin street. Only the. the immediate relatives were entertained at the dinner. The table was beautifully apointed and a color scheme of green and white was carried out. A bouquet of bride's roses decorated the center of the table. Mr. and Mrs. Whitney left at two o'clock for a lake trip and expect to be absent from Hammond for a week. They will be at home In Gostlin street on their return to Hammond until their new home in Hyslop Place is completed. Yesterday also celebrated the thirtyfirst aniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Whitney and they with Mr. and Mrs. I.oren I Whitney received the congratulations and best wishes of many frieds. Mrs. Whitney came to Hammond from Defiance, O. and for the past five years has been a stenographer in the offices of the Simplex Appliance Company. CELEBRATE AXMVEHSARV. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Gero very charmingly entertained a number of friends at their home in May street last Saturday evening in honor of vir. Gero's mother, Mrs. Bryon Burge of Merriilville who is their guest. The party was given to celebrate her birthday anniversary and she received many pretty gifts in remembrance of the The home was beautifully decorated with flowers and greenery. greetings to Mrs. Burge. The cards were then given to Mrs. Burge as souvenirs of the occasion. Various games were played and a program was given by the "Neighborhood Orchestra." Mr. and Mrs. Claude Palmer, Mrs. C. B. Stiver and Mr. C. L. Kinsey delightfully entertained the guests with several musical selections. After their pyrogram dainty refreshments were served. A MISSIONARY TEA. The members of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian church will have a "Missionary Tea" Tuesday afternoon, June 18th at the home of Mrs. F. M. Elliott in Ogden street to which they invite their friends. It Is desired that there is a large attendance as an interesting program has been prepared. Miss Bell, a return missionary from Africa will lecture and tell of her work among the women in foreign countries. A CLVB MEETIXG. This evening: the girls of the Beta Alpha Tau Club will met with Miss Beatrice Hansen at her home in Rimbach avenue. The evening will be de
voted to cards and "500" will be played at two tables. It will be the. first meeting in three weeks. A THEATER PARTY. A number of young people formed .a theater party and saw "Within The Law" at the Princes theater in Chicago last evening. After the theater they had supper at The States. of the members were entertained at supper at six o'clock. The supper was served in true picnic fashion .on the floor in the large living room. There were between forty and fifty guests at the picnic and a very enjoyable time is

The dance floor was filled with merrymakers during the afternoon and evening, and all the concessions were well patronized. Manager Seltzer is now in communication with several sensational features which he hopes to introdiice at the park in the near future. He is negotiating with some balloonists and with some high divers, and it is hoped that he will have these attractions in a very short time. It is planned to install several free attractions - and to otherwise draw attention to the park. Leon DeCosta will make some changes
in his force of entertainers in the Rathskeller this week also, and it is planned to make some changes in the band and probably introduce a woman soloist. Mr. Seltzer is in communication with a famous lady ' cornetist, who may possibly play an engagement at the park. Big plans are. being made
t- celebrate July 4 at the park, and pblttfea' rallies will be held also in the park as soon as the national conventions are over. : Three monster picnics have been billed for Lakewoods park during the month of July. The Polish contingent of Gary and environs are negotiating for Sunday, July 14; tlie Servians want the park for their big annual picnic on Sunday, July 21, and the Hungarians have engaged the park for Sunday, Jvly 28. Other parks and conventions are also preparing to take ad--antage of the special inducements offtred to picnics and conventions ty the park managiiient. ,
