IX They stood in the shade of the large Japanese umbrella. Inuring the hours of the reception a program of beautiful musio was played by Barnie Young's orchestra which was stationed behind a screen of pa Inn and pretty greenery. The large

veranda and lawn were beautiful with shrubbery and garden flowers. The only decorations were the large Japanese umbrellas and screens which were used to shade the lawn swings and garden seats where the guests met to listen to the musical program. Th game of "quoits" was played and high score was made by Mrs. George Shearer. A laurel wreath was awarded Mrs. Shearer as a prize. One of the most delightful features of entertainment was a contest in which all the guests engaged and in which Miss Alice Holm won the honors, an immense bouquet of pink and white peonies. The guests were provided with bows and arrows and requested to shoot at a large red heart. Miss Holm was the only one of the many guests who succeeded In piercing the heart. The contest afforded a great del of real amusement. A delicious frappe was served during the afternoon and after the games a two course luncheon was served. There were one hundred and fifty guests at the pretty function among them several friends of Mrs. Belman and Miss Adkins from Chicago and Crown Point. Among the out of town guests were: Mrs. Belman of Perry, Mich.; Mrs. Cummings and Miss Lulu Cummings of Aberdeen, S. D. ; Mrs. Lowe of Chicago;

After the church ceremony, the mem

bers of the bridal party and the rela

tives were entertained at breakfast at the home of the brlde'B father in Douglas street. Bouquets of pink kilarney roses and pretty greenery decorated the tables. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll left at noon on their wedding trip. They

will visit in St. Louis, and Kansas City, Mo., after which they will go to Denver and Colorado Springs. They will bo absent from Hammond lor several days and on their return to Hammond will

Stork Busy on North Side.

Early this morning the big bird flew from Its nest with a couple of fine baby girls of the eight and ten-pound variety, leaving one at the home of George Brusel, the genial grocer at 348 North Hohman street, and the other for J. TAKES COUNTRY TRIP. Baumgartner C O. F. degree team of Hammond went to Hanover Center last night, where It conferred the major degree of the order upon twen'ty-flve candidates, and the Initiatory degree on seven. The Hammond visitors were well entertained by their country brethren and report a pleasant evening. The Hanover court promised last night to come to Hammond in a body next Sunday to attend the corner stone laying at the new St. Joseph's church.
