ernor made plain in that speech the I things which he thlnlcs ought to go into the Democratic platform. He adheres to the views he has expressed frequently that the platform should not be long or unwieldy, but that H should make tariff for revenue onlv. enforcement of the Sherman anti-trust I direct election of United States i Senators, strict economy in national I expenditures and states rights paramount Issues. mi . , . , . . . Democrats would aweep the country on j OR the ,ssue of tar,ff f)r revenu, on,y. He believes there were so many paramount Issues that the wavering voters became confused and that many who wanted to support ths Democrats on their main issues were frightened away by some of the collateral issues of their platform. A short and easily understood plat, form Is the Governor's Idea. He states that he is not in favor of making the initiative and referendum a national Issue. He suggests that the states ought to determine for themselves whether they want the Initiative and referendum in their codes. He Is opposed to the recall of judges, but he suggests that there ought to be an easier way than there Is now to reach Judges who do not do their duty. He would have impeachment made simpler, but he wouldn't put the recall In th hands of the people. The Marshall-for-Presldent Club and on-to-Baltlmore movement In favor of the Governor. Several hundred Democrats have engaged transportation on the special trains which , will leave here on Sunday prior to the convention. Shively has been tentatively chosen for this job, and this !s regarded as a alam at Kern, because the relations between Kern and Shive ly have been strained ever since Kern denounced the election of Shively as the work of Indiana brewers who used corrupt methods In the Indiana legislature to elect Shively and beat Kern. Shively has been elected chairman of the Indiana delegation to the Baltimore convention, and his selection now as the spokesman for Marshall puts htm in a commanding position in the delegation. . The fact that Shively has taken the place of Kern as the spokesman for Marshall also la regarded here as indicating that there has been a serious break between Marshall and Kern, who, up to this time have been the closest of. political and personal friends. Marshall forced the election of Kern as United States senator. Of Evory Woman It iaterutM ana insula Know bout the wonderful i MARVEL Wsirlini Spnf Ttat sew Vaslnal ayrtnae. Beit met convenient.
