9 of the Wallace school at a picnic at Jackson Park last Saturday. Tht-v visited Fields museum. The hours In the park were spent very enjoyatily with frames and contests. A picnic luncheon was served at noon. In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wilcox of Conkey avenue motored to Chicago and delightfully surprised the children. They gave the children a ten mile drive through the park. The drive was one of the most deliphtful features of the picnic and was thoroughly enjoyed by the many little people.

PARK'S OPENING WASA SUCCESS Lakewoods Park entered upon its second season as a resort for summer pleasure goers with two days of gala events. Capacity crowds filled tha Casino, ballroom, rathskeller and mid

way gardens. Ward's Park band found favor. Concessionists did a land office business. Patronage was especially heavy at the bowling aleys, palmist studio,

fish pond and shooting galeries. Boosters for the resort formed an aassociation in the rathskeller. It is to

be known as the Lakewoods Yo Hi Club. The drafting of the constitution

The Water Was Cold. The bath house at the Lake Front park in Hammond will be opened for business next Thursday. The fruit and candy concession was opened yesterday and there was an enormous crowd at the park. A few bathers went over to th B. & O. yards and tried the water. They found it very cold. It Is expected.

however, that a few days of warm weather will make a great deal of difference. The park is exected to be patronized to even a greater extent this year than it was last. It is the most popular place of amusement in the city.
